The vigorous development of education has a profound impact on social development, and it is also of great significance to personal development. In recent years, families in my country have paid more and more attention to the education of their children. In order to cope with multiple pressures such as grades, exams and school entrance, private supplementary tutoring has become the first choice for students to improve their academic performance.Private supplementary tutoring,a kind of for-profit educational activity that exists to improve students' academic performance and takes place outside of school education,is very common in our country. However,at present, most of the studies on private supplementary tutoring in China remain in the stage of compulsory education, and there is little research on the stage of high school, and the differences between disciplines are not fully taken into account. This research is based on the high school stage, and takes the second grade students of three public high schools in two fourth-tier cities and below in Henan Province as the research object. It studies the extracurricular.tutoring of mathematics, fully embodies the discipline characteristics of mathematics, and deeply discusses the influence of private supplementary tutoring on mathematics. In terms of data collection, the method of questionnaire survey and interview was used to track the students' remedial study in the second semester, the summer vacation of the first year and the first semester of the second year.A total of 1247 valid questionnaires were collected, and the effective rate reached 88.1%.This paper aims to study high school students' math tutoring from three aspects: the status quo,the factors affecting math tutoring and the effect of private supplementary tutoring.First of all,the investigation and analysis of high school students mathematics private supplementary tutoring of the basic situation. This paper uses the descriptive statistical method, combines the questionnaire survey data and interview data, and makes a detailed analysis from the aspects of the size, reason, content, intensity, mode, teacher distribution and teaching mode of private supplementary tutoring. The research results show that nearly one third of the high school students in the survey sample participate in math private supplementary tutoring, and the proportion of math scores is the highest, indicating that most of the students participate in math tutoring is "remedial difference".Wanting to improve math scores is the main reason to participate in tutoring;More than 70% of the students' tutoring content is the knowledge in the review class, and more than 50% is advanced learning, while the proportion of olympiad, independent recruitment training,after-school nursing class, etc.,is less.During the semester, students' remedial intensity is not high, but during the holidays, the average weekly remedial time is up to 18.38 hours."One on one" is the main way for students to choose.In-service teachers in public schools are the main providers of remedial activities.Secondly, the significant factors affecting students' participation in mathematics private supplementary tutoring are analyzed. On the basis of referring to a large number of literatures, logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the influencing factors of students' participation in math private supplementary tutoring in terms of individual, family and school. The results show that: whether it is during the semester or during the vacation, arts and science, parents' occupation, parents' education level, parents' educational expectation and class level all have significant effects on high school students' participation in math tutoring. In addition, during the semester, the degree of math difficulty had a significant negative effect, and the parents' grade requirements had a significant positive effect.During the holidays,self-education expectations and family economic conditions had significant positive effects on math tutoring. In addition, the effect of extracurricular tutoring on students' performance has always been a concern of parents and students. This paper explores the influence of private supplementary tutoring on math performance by using the double difference propensity score matching method(PSM-DID).The empirical analysis shows that the students who participate in math tutoring during the semester will not only improve their math performance, but also reduce their scores, but have not passed the significance test;on the contrary, when they participate in math tutoring during the holidays, students' performance will be significantly improved. Finally, combined with interviews, this paper deeply analyzes the influence of private supplementary tutoring on students, school teachers and society, and puts forward reasonable suggestions to students, parents, teachers, education departments and the society.Students and parents should treat the private supplementary tutoring and should not rely on it too much;Teachers should improve the quality of teaching and assume the responsibility of teaching;Treat students in a fair and just manner. The educational department should perfect the educational evaluation system;it is necessary to scientifically regulate in-service teachers to enter the tutoring market.Government departments should formulate relevant policies and standardize the management system of tutoring institutions.Increase educational investment, rational allocation of educational resources,so that the phenomenon of extracurricular tutoring can develop healthily.
