Educational products and services for children have been dominating the social consumption with the recent development of economy and increase of residents' income in China.After-school tutoring activities exhibit rapid growth nowadays.As a “shadow” of the normal education system,the after-school tutoring should have been the positive supplemental and supporting part.This study adopts the method of literature study,questionnaire statistics analysis and interview.On the basis of research literature collection at home and abroad,through a questionnaire survey,475 junior middle school students from three middle schools in J District,Shanghai City,participated in extracurricular tutoring.Then the research was carried out in the field,and the representative number of students and parents were studied.In depth interviews with teachers,the present situation of urban junior middle school students' participation in extracurricular counselling is understood,and their group distribution features are presented in detail,and the mechanism of the participation of junior middle school students' Extracurricular guidance,input and effect is revealed.Through data analysis and in-depth interviews,this study found that: first,whether urban junior middle school students are involved in extracurricular counseling is mainly influenced by three factors: individual,school and family.Grade,household registration,self-study expectation,school ranking,family academic expectation,parents' education level and family tutoring time ability have significant influence on whether students participate in extracurricular counseling.Second,the willingness of urban junior middle school students to participate in extracurricular counseling is mainly related to individual characteristics and school background factors;in the aspect of extracurricular guidance,significant related family influence factors are significantly increased;the effect of final participation in extracurricular tutoring is influenced by the same effects of individual,family and school.Third,there is no significant correlation between the willingness of the urban junior middle school students to participate in extracurricular counselling and their input,but they have an impact on the effect of extracurricular tutoring,of which the degree of the influence of junior middle school students' participation in extracurricular counseling is greater than the degree of participation in extracurricular guidance.The willing for after-school tutoring,input and evaluation were discussed afterwards,which were ascribed to five aspects such as middle school entrance,traditions,market economy,school divergence as well as personal divergence.In summary,the overall work provides recommendations for family to choose after-school tutoring,suggestions for schools to reform the re-shape the normal education system,and directions for government to make educational policies.
