| Composition revision ability is one of the most important components of the overall composition writing abilities.The Curriculum Standards for Chinese Teaching in Elementary Schools emphasizes the importance of the fostering of students' composition revision ability for further improvement of their composition writing abilities,and further clarifies that the fostering and development of students' composition revision ability should start from the stage of elementary school education.So what is the basic situation regarding the composition revision ability of students in the upper elementary years? What are the conditions for successful fostering of the composition revision ability of students in the upper elementary years?From what aspects can teachers effectively foster such ability of upper-elementary school students? These are some of the questions that are worth further exploring.Based on the analysis of relevant studies by other scholars,there has been a new definition regarding the composition revision ability of students in the upper elementary years.First,the characteristics of students ' physical and mental development,the Curriculum Standards for Chinese Teaching in Elementary Schools and elementary school Chinese textbooks all stipulate the basic requirements for the training of students in the upper elementary years on their composition revision ability,as well as the specific goals and requirements for upper elementary school students' revision of their compositions,all of which have provided the basis for further fostering and training of upper-elementary school students on their composition revision ability.Second,successful fostering and development of the composition revision ability of students in upper elementary years requires certain conditions,such as effective organization by and guidance from teachers,sufficient revision time,modernized supporting tools for revision,and correct use of markup symbols in the revision process.Third,The fostering and training of upper-elementary school students ' composition revision ability also requires teachers to follow the four principles of purpose,pertinence,diversity and reinforcement.At present,the overall composition revision ability of students in the upper elementary years is far from satisfactory,and there have been several related issues regarding composition revision,including misconceptions among teachers and students about composition revision,as well as unsophisticated and oversimplified composition revision process with a lackof specific revision methods and skills,mainly as a result of a misalignment of students' role and participation the in composition revision process,vague results of composition revision,and inadequate guidance and instructions offered for such revision.Based on these principles,current situation and causes,regarding the fostering of upper elementary school students' composition revision ability,can be further proposed and highlighted in practical cases from the aspects of increasing students' motivation for active participation,improving the effectiveness of revision methods and skills,and strengthening the sequentiality of such revision methods and skills. |
