| To improve the average wage level of manufacturing industry in each region is of great significance to improve the income level of workers,achieve the developing mode of innovation driving,innovation incentive and industrial upgrading.It also plays an important role in maintaining and enhancing the competitiveness of manufacturing industry.It has become an urgent problem for us to steadily and continuously promote the increase of the wage incomes in the manufacturing industry of all regions,realize the industrial structure upgrading and industrial transformation,and prevent the phenomenon of regional income gap from further arising.Based on the research paradigm of new economic geography and urban economics,by expanding Krugman's wage decision model of manufacturing industry,and combining with the panel data of 30 provinces,cities and autonomous regions from 2003 to 2017,this paper empirically tests the impact of technological externalities of service industry agglomeration and monetary externalities of market potential on the wage income level of manufacturing industry.Unlike previous studies,we also test the nonlinear relationship between these factors.The research results finds that:Firstly,the improvement of the agglomeration of service industry and market potential can promote the rise of manufacturing wage income in all regions,and a series of robustness analysis and endogenous processing models have confirmed the validity of this conclusion.Secondly,the heterogeneity analysis results of the east,the middle and the west regions show that the wage premium effect of manufacturing industry which is produced by the service industry clusters in the eastern region is not significant.But in the middle and the west regions,the effect is statistically significant.The heterogeneity analysis based on different types of industries shows that both producer service industry agglomeration and public service industry agglomeration have significant positive impact on manufacturing wage income,but the effect coefficient of consumer service industry agglomeration is not significant.Thirdly,the test results of generalized quantile regression show that with the improvement of the quantile level of dependent variable,the market potential has more and more strong inhibition on the wage premium effect of service industry agglomeration,which indicates that there is a nonlinear relationship between market potential,service industry agglomeration and manufacturing wage.This paper further uses threshold regression model to test the existence of the nonlinear relationship,and find that with the increase of regional market potential,the wage premium effect of service industry agglomeration continues to decrease,the conclusion confirms the existence of Williamson hypothesis in the research topic of this paper.Fourthly,according to the channel analysis results of externality theory,the specialized externality of service industry agglomeration promotes the wage income of manufacturing industry,while the effect of diversified externality and competitive externality is not obviousIn order to promote the reasonable and stable rise of the wage income level of the manufacturing industry in all regions of China,and avoid the further expansion of the income gap between regions,according to the conclusion of the empirical research in this paper,some policy recommendations were put forward.First,we should build specialized industry zones for high-end service industries in all regions of China.In addition,we can take measures to help the productive service industry and public service industry in all regions to realize industrial development,and prevent the phenomenon of excessive agglomeration of service industry between regions.Second,stimulate the expansion of domestic demand,break the trading barriers between regions,and promote the integration process of the market and production factors.Finally,guide the urban industrial layout to achieve multi-center cluster mode of development,prevent the primacy of urban system and urban agglomeration from being too large,give play to the network externality between regions,and realize regional cooperation and development with high quality. |
