Recently, the elderly with dementia and their intervention in cognitive ability have gradually attracted social attention.Dementia is a set of syndromes of advanced brain dysfunction caused by organic damage to chronic or progressive brain structures. It is the decline of a patient's long-standing,comprehensive cognitive ability that occurs when he is conscious.Dementia is mainly divided into three periods:early, middle, and late.Because of its irreversible nature, the earlier the intervention is,the more effective it is to delay the progression of the disease. How to delay the development of the dementia course through effective intervention in the cognitive decline of the demented elderly has become an imminent task. With the development of society and the emphasis on quality of life, the current treatment model for the elderly with dementia has also begun to transform from the original"Pathology-physiology" single treatment model to the new model of"physiological-psychological-social" combination.Social work Intervention has also become a new approach to non-pharmacological interventions. The purpose of this study is to explore the use of professional methods and techniques of social workers to intervene in the decline of cognitive ability of the elderly with dementia in the early stages, thereby helping them to improve their cognitive ability and delay the process of dementia. The researchers conducted professional internships with the Nanjing Senior Citizens Service Center from September 2016 to February 2018.During the internship, the researchers came into contact with Liu Grandma, the current owner of dementia. After comprehensively collecting case data, the researchers found that the specific manifestations of the decline of cognitive ability of Liu Grandma were memory confusion;distraction;impaired expression. After further research, the researchers identified two major influencing factors that led to the decline of the cognitive ability of the client:lack of cognitive training and lack of social activities. The researchers focused on increasing the training of the host's cognitive activities and improving communication skills.According to the concrete manifestations of the decline in the cognitive ability of the client, the investigators directed the interventions into three dimensions:memory, attention, and expressiveness.Targeted intervention programs.Based on the theory of social support and the theory of narrative therapy, scale assessment methods, case interviews, and participatory observations were used to involve the individual in the case. The intervention of this study is divided into four phases. The first stage:the owners meet and establish relationships;the second stage:narrative therapy, recalling the past;the third stage:manual therapy and entertaining;the fourth stage:cognitive training, hands and brains.According to the scale score assessment analysis, paired sample T-test analysis, and interview result analysis, the investigators found that the investigator was in memory and attention. Both the force and the expressive force have been improved, and the cognitive ability has improved. At the same time, the mental outlook of the case has also gradually improved.Self-confidence and self-confidence have greatly improved. They have also begun to enjoy communication and assistance with others. The overall situation has started to show a positive state.Basically achieved the expected service goals and achieved a more satisfactory service. At the end of the study, the researcher began to reflect on the three aspects of the application mode, the intervention technique and the social worker's ethical dilemma. Finally, this research is summarized and three suggestions are put forward.First,to improve the construction of the support system for the elderly lost wisdom;second,to improve the care of the elderly with mental retardation;third, strengthen the knowledge of the lost wisdom of the elderly learning.
