With the rapid aging of our country,the issue of geriatric cognition has been put on the action agenda of healthy China.The disease not only threatens the health of older people,but also has a serious negative impact on their mental health,with more than fifty million people worldwide identified as suffering from cognitive problems,about 20 percent of those with cognitive impairment were also diagnosed with major depression.This study focuses on the depression of the elderly with cognitive disorders in the institutional setting,following the concept of evidence-based social work,and looking for scientific intervention evidence through systematic literature review and meta-analysis,based on the theory of behavioral activation therapy and life course,this study explored the current situation and causes of depression of cognitive elderly in the environment of nursing home,a multi-disciplinary team including medical,dance and sign language experts to develop a “Dance to memory”social work intervention service with local cultural characteristics,using a single-blind Randomized controlled trial method,cognitive function,action ability,interpersonal communication,and emotional coping knowledge and skills were used as mediating factors,and depression was used as outcome variables,a half-year intervention service was carried out among 21 elderly persons with cognitive disorders in a nursing home in Shanghai.Using a combination of quantitative and qualitative research methods,the study found that depression was more common in elderly cognitive patients in the institutional environment,and depression was higher in women than in men,the behavior shows the characteristics of concealment and bigotry.The results of the intervention effectiveness Quantitative analysis found that intervention service significantly improved the interpersonal communication behavior of the elderly with institutional cognition,and also had some effect on cognitive function and motor ability,furthermore,it can improve the depression of the elderly with cognitive disease.The results of qualitative interview showed that the knowledge and skills of depression also increased,and the fluency and expression level of depression were improved.To sum up,“Dance to memory” is a more effective intervention study of the local model of social work,which provides scientific and effective empirical evidence for social work professionals to promote healthy aging,however,there is still room for improvement in the length and intensity of late-stage effectiveness tests. |
