Research On The Influence Of Intergenerationalcare On The Fertility Willingness Of The Second Child

This paper mainly uses CFPS2014 data to study the mechanism of the influence of intergenerational care on the fertility willingness of the second child,and provides policy recommendations for targeted improvement of fertility willingness.According to the propensity score matching method,it is concluded that intergenerational care can effectively improve the family's willingness that give birth to the second child.Specifically,in the case of other factors,there is a possibility that the family who have the care of the next child will have the possibility of giving birth to the second child.The average number of willing births of families with intergenerational care was 9.3%higher.This result was the average treatment effect obtained by controlling the relevant covariates to match the intervention group with the control group.And considering the population,the degree of influence of rural residents' care on fertility will be similar to that of urban residents.Intermediary care for rural residents makes the number of willing births increase by an average of 8.9%,while the figure in urban areas is 7.6%.The effect on the number of women's willing births is higher than that of men.The number of women willing to give birth will increase by 9.1%due to intergenerational care,while that of men will increase by 4.4%.In addition,when the income level changes from low to high,the influence of the care of the second child on the fertility will be logarithmically increased.With the increase of income,the influence of the intergenerational care on the second child's willingness to grow will increase rapidly.And then gradually stabilized,this phenomenon can be explained by the quantity-quality substitution theory produced by children as durable consumer goods.It can be seen that although intergenerational care generally promotes an increase in the number of willing births,its promotion will vary from person to person.In view of the significant impact of intergenerational care on the fertility willingness of the second child,this paper believes that the establishment of the old-age security system should be accelerated,and the establishment of a formal child-care system should be accelerated,so that parents can reduce the pressure of child-rearing,thereby enhancing the fertility confidence and increasing the fertility rate of the population in China.In addition,regarding the gender differences in the influence of intergenerational care on the fertility willingness,the special status of women in the decision-making of fertility should provide some policy recommendations for women.This paper believes that the concept of gender equality should be included in the formulation of public policies and promote society.The main purpose of the system of maternity welfare is to alleviate the burden of women in child-rearing,including the domestic work from the family and the unfair treatment of child-rearing at work.
