Care For Special Child Caregivers

With the rapid development of the times,the number of special children in our country is increasing,and the care pressure of caregivers is becoming more and more large,which has produced various needs,and has had a certain negative impact on their quality of life.Some NPO has paid attention to the pressure of the caregivers and provided them with the respite care.Based on the above background,this paper puts forward the research questions: in the current respite care,what kind of service strategy is used by NPO to promote the empowerment of special child caregivers?whether these service strategies are effective in increasing power,and what's the policy barriers encountered in the service strategy?From the perspective of empowerment theory,this paper attempts to use qualitative case study method,taking the NPO:Y organization providing the support service of the caregivers in Guangzhou as a typical case,By the in-depth interviews with the service providers of respite care and a long time of participatory observation,this paper analyzes the specific service strategies used by NPO in service delivery.Furthermore,we through in-depth interviews with 24 special child caregivers who received respite service in institution Y,and analyzed whether the service strategy of respite service was effective or not,and what was the situation of increasing the power of caretakers;Analysis of the problems and policies encountered by its Service Strategy in the current provision of respite service obstacles.The research found that NPO pays attention to the different needs of the caregivers and empowerment of this group in the process of providing respite services,while focusing on increasing power at the individual level.It also pays attention to the empowerment of carers at the interpersonal level and the service content supplemented by the empowermentat the level of social participation.Then,diversified and flexible service strategies are used to ensure the development of panting services to assist caregivers to empower themselves.Using of different service strategies in the respite care,the result is only to achieve a relatively low level of empowerment,which mainly met the immediate needs of the caregivers,promoted the awareness of the rights of the caregivers,and improved their personal abilities,which was conducive to their realization of their value.But on the whole,the effect of empowerment is not very ideal,especially from the personal level,interpersonal level to social participation level,with the increasing of power level,its direction of empowerment gradually weakened.The biggest obstacle to the service strategy of respite care is the lack of relevant policy support.the service strategies used by NPO in providing respite care can not play the most important role,and the overall situation of the caregivers is not ideal.Positive coping strategies should be adopted to remove obstacles and promote the development of wheezing service.
