Peer-assisted Learning,a kind of cooperative learning,is an advanced teaching methodology which highlighted the mutual activities among the students. It emphasizes the interaction between students. In the process of mutual assistance,it can not only stimulate students' interest in learning and improve their academic performance, but more importantly,it can establish a positive interpersonal relationship between students,so that students can learn how to interact with people in the learning process.Under the impetus of the curriculum reform,Peer-assisted Learning has been widely used in school classroom learning activities, especially in middle schools. In order to explore the development of Peer-assisted Learning in grassroots schools, this study took biology learning in middle school as an example, and went to the school of Ningyang county in Tai'an City to listen to lectures and learn about the implementation of Peer-assisted Learning; To investigate the teachers and students in Dongchangfu district middle school of Liaocheng city on the implementation of Peer-assisted Learning experience;Based on the analysis of the problems in the practice of Peer-assisted Learning, this paper puts forward some reasonable suggestions for the correct implementation of Peer-assisted Learning.Through observing the Peer-assisted Learning in biology class in Ningyang county,it is found that when the teacher carries out peer learning, firstly he raised questions to let students learn.Secondly, partners discussed and help each other in accordance with problems. Then the group presented the discussion results; Finally, the teacher summed up the evaluation.Peer-assisted Learning run through the whole class, students actively participated in discussion and the class atmosphere was active. However, there are some problems such as single grouping standard, lack of evaluation orientation and formalization of teaching.Students in Dongchangfu district middle school of Liaocheng city show great interest in carrying out Peer-assisted Learning in biology class, which is shown as follows:(1)Most of the students have a strong interest in biology and obtain biological knowledgefrom a variety of channels.Among them, students are more interested in TV programs and movies related to biological knowledge and less interested in consulting learning resources on their own;(2)Students are more active in learning, but less autonomous;(3)Students' willingness to help each other is not very high, but their willingness to cooperate is high;(4)Students have high communication ability and mutual assistance ability in cooperative skills, but their problem-solving ability, classroom participation and sense of responsibility are not high;(5)Students are not satisfied with their seats, teachers' grouping and the reward and evaluation mechanism. Most of them believe that Peer-assisted Learning enriches their knowledge base, improves their expression ability, cultivates their sense of responsibility, and improves their ability to analyze and solve problems. The experience and feelings of the teachers in Dongchangfu district middle school of Liaocheng city on carrying out Peer-assisted Learning in biology class are as follows:(1)Most teachers recognize Peer-assisted Learning;(2)Most teachers do not have the same understanding of the connotation of Peer-assisted Learning;(3)Most of the teachers said that they could not guide the students to learn from each other in class;(4)Young teachers are more willing to try Peer-assisted Learning model. In view of the current situation and problems of Peer-assisted Learning in middle school biology classes, the following suggestions are put forward: at the school level, firstly, the school should improve the rules and regulations of various departments, build libraries, laboratories and other learning places;second, the school should strengthen teachers' professional training in modern education methods, basic teaching skills and professional ethics;third, the school should arrange the curriculum reasonably and increase the time for students to study independently. At the teacher level, firstly, teachers should divide students into groups scientifically and pay attention to the differences of each student;second, teachers' evaluation should promote students' development;third, teachers should strengthen the study of subject knowledge, modern education ideas and teaching methods, and enhance the control of the classroom;fourth, teachers should strengthen their participation in school-based teaching and research activities and deepen their cognition ofPeer-assisted Learning. At the student level, students should actively participate in peer interaction;students should maintain a good peer relationship.
