In recent years, approach to learning has attracted more and more attention from scholars at home and abroad.approach to learning is very important for children’s development,it can not only predict children’s school readiness, but also affect their school adaptation and academic achievement in the future.Previous studies mostly focused on exploring the influence of school factors such as teacher-child relationship and quality of classroom activities on children’s approach to learning, but relatively fewer on family factors. As an important subject in family, parents’ parenting behavior and its relationship with children have an important impact on the development of children’s approach to learning. Therefore, from the perspective of family, this study explores the characteristics of parenting practice,parent-child relationship and 4-6 years old children’s approach to learning,as well as the specific relationship among them. And suggestions are put forward to promote the development of children’s approach to learning through fostering the enthusiasm and scientificity of parenting practice and improving parent-child relationship. In this study,606 4-6-year-old children and their parents from H,C,B and S were selected as the research objects.Data were collected by questionnaire, measurement, interview and observation. Then the characteristics of parenting practice,parent-child relationship and children’s approach to learning were analyzed and studied. The conclusions are as follows:1.The overall parenting practice is above the average level, but there is imbalance in the development of all aspects of parenting practice; There were significant differences in the variables of children’s age,but no significant differences in the variables of children’s gender. There were significant differences in parental parenting practice in parent’s age, occupation and educational background variables.2.On the whole,parent-child relationship has a high level of intimacy and a low level of conflict;Parent-child relationship is significantly different in children’s age variables, but not in children’s gender variables.Parent-child relationship has significant differences in variables of parents’ age, occupation and educational background.3.The approach to learning of 4-6 years old children is above average, but the development of approach to learning is unbalanced. There are age differences in the development of children’s approach to learning of 4-6 years old children. The development of superior class children in this aspect is significantly better than that of middle class children. There was no gender difference in the development of approach to learning between 4-6 years old children.4.There are different correlations among parenting practice,parent-child relationship and approach to learning.Among them, the overall and partial dimensions of parenting practice are significantly correlated with the two dimensions of parent-child relationship;the overall and all dimensions of parenting practice are significantly correlated with the overall and all dimensions of approach to learning;except the correlation between intimacy dimension and learning strategy dimension is not significant, the overall and all dimensions of parenting practice and approach to learning are extremely significant correlation.5.On the whole, parenting practice can significantly negatively predict conflict and positively predict intimacy in parent-child relationship;parenting practice can significantly positively predict children’s approach to learning;conflict performance in parent-child relationship can significantly negatively predict children’s approach to learning;intimacy can significantly positively predict children’s approach to learning. In addition, through stepwise regression analysis, this study found the most predictive factors for the overall development and the dimensions of children’s approach to learning and parent-child relationship.6.Parent-child relationship partially mediates parenting practice and approach to learning of 4-6 years old children.Based on the above conclusions, this study puts forward some specific suggestions from three perspectives: family, kindergarten and government.
