| Approaches to learning,as a foundational trait for lifelong learning and development, can predict an individual’s future learning level and academic achievement, which is crucial for young children in the stage of transition to primary school. The majority of previous studies have focused on the influence of kindergarten education on children’s approaches to learning, targeting teachers’ teaching abilities,teacher-child relationships, and kindergarten playing activities as breakthrough points for research on children’s approaches to learning, but less attention has been paid to the role of parents in children’s family education. As parents are the first teachers of their children, young children have been influenced by their parents in their family education since the fetal period, where the parenting style used by parents is directly related to the development of their approaches to learning.Based on the understanding of the significance of parenting styles, this study explores and analyzes the current developmental status of mindful parenting,parent-child relationship, and approaches to learning of 5-6-year-old children and their specific connections, taking the family education perspective as a starting point, together with the corresponding educational suggestions that emerge from the discussion and analysis.A sample of 578 parents of children aged 5-6 years in six kindergartens with different ratings was selected for the study by stratified random sampling in City C,Sichuan Province. The obtained data were tested for the overall test, difference test, correlation test, regression test, and mediating effect test using relevant statistical software. The results obtained were as follows.1.There are generally good levels of mindful parenting, intimate parent-child relationships, and the developmental level of approaches to learning of young children, all of which are in the middle to upper range. The lower levels of the conflict parent-child relationship and the dependent parent-child relationship are consistent with their mutual exclusivity with an intimate parent-child relationship.2.There are no significant differences in the role of parents and gender variables of children in mindfulness parenting, but there are significant differences in the in the education level of parents, whether the child is the only child and the annual income level of the family. There is no significant difference in the parent-child relationship in the variables of parental role, child gender and whether the child is the only child, but there are significant differences in parent-child relationship between parents in terms of educational level and annual family income. There is no significant difference in children’s Approaches to learning in the variables of parental role, but there are significant difference in children’s Approaches to learning in terms of parents’ educational level, children’s gender, whether children are the only child, and family annual income.3.Mindfulness parenting and children’s approaches to learning are significantly correlated with parent-child relationship, positive correlation with intimacy type, negative correlation with conflict type and dependence type; There is a significant positive correlation between mindfulness parenting and children’s approaches to learning.4.It has been observed that mindful parenting can significantly positively predict intimate parent-child relationships and children’s approaches to learning while significantly negatively predicting conflict and dependent parent-child relationships;parent-child relationships can remarkably predict the children’s approaches to learning,Intimacy type is positive, conflict type and dependence type are negative.5.The intimate, conflict and dependent parent-child relationships all serve as partial mediators of the effects of mindful parenting on the development of approaches to learning qualities in 5-6-year-olds.According to the above results, combined with the actual situation of C city, this study takes these three aspects(initiative to change the inherent way of education, consciously improve the level of mindfulness education;Actively create a harmonious family environment and strive to build an intimate parent-child relationship;Giving full play to the role of family education and comprehensively cultivating children’s approaches to learning)as the framework and puts forward nine specific suggestions,in order to provide reference for parents to raise their children and effectively cultivate children’s approaches to learning. |
