| School bullying is an issue of great concern and causes a highly negative influence on the students and even the whole society.Actually it has attracted wide attention in the academic community.However,the existing researches about bullying in China mainly focus on the concepts and theoretical framework proposed by western scholars,which means that they lack the localization awareness.Most of the researches are carried out from the perspective of psychology and lack the explanation of the cause of school bullying.Moreover,most of the researches focus on bullying and neglect the dimension of school,which means that they have not paid enough attention to the role that the school play in school bullying.Under this background,based on the features of school bullying in China,this research is devoted to reflecting on the relationship between the school bullying and school education from Foucault’s views of discipline,and explores the logics and methods of dealing with school bullying.It will be of significant realistic research value.to enrich the theory of school bullying in China.In this research,the bullying behavior of those students remaining at the upper hierarchy with structural advantaged power against those at the lower hierarchy in the school field is referred to as “distinction bullying”.The bullying behavior of those students at the lower hierarchy with interpersonal advantaged power against those at the upper hierarchy because of jealous hostility is referred to as “jealous bullying”.And the bullying behavior of those students beyond the hierarchy of the school field using the anti-school cultural elements to find pleasure,highlight individuality and regain confidence is referred to as “compensation bullying”.Taking a boarding middle school F in the northeastern part of Yunnan as an example,this research tries to make a narrative analysis of three typical cases of school bullying.This research finds that the schools represented by F can be seen as a precisedisciplining institution in the modern world.The disciplining power takes advantage of behavior code,standard control and the conspiracy caused by the individuals’ desire for high marks to make people obey orders unconsciously.Due to the competitive atmosphere caused by the score-oriented reward and punishment as well as peer gathering,there is a growing tendency for the indifference to interpersonal relationship and morality among those students who are subject to internal discipline.Those students who are left at a disadvantaged position often end up as the outsider in the class.At this point,the distinction bullying will occur.Moreover,competition leads to the jealous feeling easily.When the jealous feeling develops into resentment,the jealous bullying will happen on campus.Some students are not interested in the boring life and study in the school.In some cases,they are also classified as academically poor students by the school.Those students with a strong self-consciousness will tend to oppose the discipline of the school and also take up a series of anti-school behaviors,including the compensation bullying.As to the reflection on the traditional prevention of school bullying,this research finds that some schools and teachers adopt the pathology mode to explain bullying and also utilize isolation strategies and self-denial strategies to give moral lecture and managerial punishment to the bullies.Those strategies are important forms of school disciplining to the individuals through subjectification.The control paradigm is faced with two problems.Firstly,two types of bullying happening in the internalization of school discipline have been neglected.Secondly,the inability to manage the compensation bullying may even worsen the situation.Hence,this research reflects on the prevention of school bullying beyond the perspective of discipline.At the level of value,the school must change from the discipline-oriented morality to the ethics-oriented morality.Besides telling students not to bully others,the school must also teach them how to treat others with strong sense of responsibility and caring.At the level of objective,school needs to change from controlling bullying behavior precisely to improving the environment for interpersonal communication.At the levelof method,the school must weaken the competition.In addition,the school should change from controlling students to paying attention to every student.The students must be guided to make self-reflection as well as regain and develop their abilities to face and solve the problems. |
