The Influence Of Parental Rearing Patterns And Parent-Child Relationship On College Students’ Career Concept

This study mainly explores the influence of parenting style and parent-child relationship on the career concept of College Students by combining quantitative and qualitative research.In qualitative research,the researcher carries out guest-oriented research,carries out three-level coding of the original data obtained from in-depth interviews and uses generic analysis.The results are as follows:(1)The more democratic the parenting style is,the closer the parent-child relationship is.(2)The more democratic the parenting style,the more comprehensive the children’s career concept.(3)The closer the parent-child relationship is,the more comprehensive the children’s career concept is.(4)The more positive the interaction between parenting style and parent-child relationship is,the more positive the children’s career concept is: in the absence of parents,the laissez-faire parenting style and alienated parent-child relationship are displayed,which prompts the children to form their own career concept;in the transitional state of absence of parents,the autocratic and democratic parenting style and the change from distant to near relatives are shown.The relationship between children promotes the formation of uncertain career concept of children;the Democratic parenting style and intimate parent-child relationship of one or both parents in the incumbent state,which promotes the formation of comprehensive decision-making career concept of children.Quantitative research conducted independent sample t-test,variance analysis,correlation analysis and regression analysis through questionnaire survey,and concluded that:(1)Current the career concept of College Students is generally negative.(2)At present,college students generally accept the parenting style of their parents.(3)At present,college students generally experience a strong restless parent-child relationship.(4)The more democratic the parenting style,the closer the parent-child relationship,and the more positive the children’s career concept.By comparing qualitative and quantitative research and integrating the results,the following conclusions can be drawn:(1)Parental rearing patterns have a positive impact on parent-child relationship.(2)Different types of parenting styles and different degrees of parent-child relationship,which together promote the formation of positive or negative career concept of children.(3)The career concept of College Students has plasticity.The enlightenment of the study is that the focus of improving parenting style and parent-child relationship lies in the construction of relationship.Based on the research results and enlightenment,to establish the positive career concept of College students,this study puts forward countermeasures:(1)infiltrating family education into college career education.(2)Higher education workers,especially mental health educators,carry out narrative career counseling to promote the re-construction of the career concept of College Students.
