STEM is an acronym for science,technology,engineering,and mathematics.STEM education originated in the United States and received great attention.This new form of education across multiple disciplines is also popular in the context of the new curriculum reform in China.The educational value of STEM education is mainly to provide students with a very real and realistic learning situation to promote students’ ability to solve practical problems in real life and the spirit of cooperation and innovation of students.STEM literacy mainly refers to the comprehensive performance of the students’ scientific literacy,technical literacy,engineering literacy,and mathematics literacy in solving real STEM problems.This is also an important quality that contemporary students should have.However,due to the influence of traditional education,in the middle school physics teaching in our country,the students’ engineering quality is not well cultivated.Therefore,a new teaching model can be designed to promote the overall improvement of students’ STEM literacy.I generally use a design-based research approach.First of all,through a large number of literature studies,the teaching models of STEM education and STEM education at home and abroad are sorted out and the advantages and disadvantages of each model are analyzed.Then,based on the PBL(question-based learning)teaching mode and the TBL(team-based learning)teaching mode,the teaching mode suitable for the implementation of the PT teaching mode in the middle school physics classroom in China is proposed.The five components of the "PT" teaching model are theoretical basis,teaching objectives,operating procedures,auxiliary conditions,and evaluation criteria.The teaching goal is to cultivate students’ STEM literacy;the operation procedure is divided into eight links,which are specific situation introduction,problem determination,team grouping,program development,program implementation,effect comparison,sharing communication and reflection improvement.Finally,in the middle school physics textbook,the Archimedes principle and the force synthesis are selected,and the specific teaching design isconstructed according to the "PT" teaching mode.In the process of designing instructional design,special attention is paid to the cultivation of students’ STEM literacy.Through the two teaching designs to illustrate the feasibility of the "PT" teaching mode.
