Under the educational background of moral education as the fundamental task,geography teaching has been given a brand new mission,and its influence on students is not only limited to the imparting of knowledge,but also the formation of correct values of junior high school students.The junior high school stage is an important period for the formation of young people's values,because students at this stage are not only developing their bodies and minds,but also constantly improving their understanding of the objective world.Actively exploring and effectively exerting the guiding role of geography teaching on the values of junior high school students is of great significance for promoting the reform of geography education in middle schools and the lifelong development of students.Using literature analysis,analysis research and other methods,combined with the analysis of the content of the Hunan Province's compulsory geography textbooks,this paper finds that geography teaching helps junior high school students form scientific ecological values,correct political values and positive aesthetic values.In order to strengthen the positive influence of geography teaching on the formation of junior high school students' values,it is necessary to investigate the status quo of geography teaching's influence on the values of junior high school students.The survey found that geography teaching has a certainpositive effect on the formation of junior high school students values,such as the environmental protection and the improvement of the understanding of man-earth harmony in terms of the junior high school students' ecological values,the enhanced love for the country and hometown in terms of the political values,and the improved recognition and ability to appreciate beauty in terms of aesthetic values.However,there are still some shortcomings in the formation of junior high school students' values.Now combined with the results of the questionnaire survey,some targeted strategies are proposed,to cultivate the ecological values of junior high school students through discussion,analysis and carrying out local practice.to cultivate the political values of junior high school students through teachers setting good examples,scientifically selecting teaching methods and supplementing current affairs.to cultivate the aesthetic values of junior high school students through selecting aesthetic content,implementing textbook activities,and creating a harmonious environment,thereby promoting the formation of students' values and realizing the overall development of students.
