Mathematical models build a bridge between the objective world and the interior of mathematics,In the latest version of "Mathematics curriculum standards for compulsory education",It is pointed out that students should experience the process of abstracting mathematical problems and building mathematical models from the actual background.The junior high school mathematics content mainly divides into four sections,the function content is abstract for students.Therefore,based on the theory of mathematical modeling,this paper studies the function teaching in junior high school.In the research process,the main methods are: literature method,interview method,questionnaire survey method,case analysis method.The main work of this study includes:(1)Consult relevant literature and books to sort out the existing research results of mathematical modeling and function teaching,getting the existing research results.And on this basis to determine the main direction and content of research.(2)According to the main research questions,the relevant teacher interview outline and student questionnaire were developed.The teachers and students of two middle schools in the city were selected as the research objects,and the status quo of function teaching and function learning of junior middle school teachers at the present stage was investigated.To understand the junior high school function teaching problems and the application of mathematical modeling.(3)It is a study of the human education version of middle school mathematics,summarizing the teaching objectives of function teaching in junior middle school,analyzing the position of the function,the teaching emphasis and the difficulty of teaching.And on this basis,combined with mathematical modeling theory design teaching case.The main research results include:(1)Five principles of mathematical teaching design based on mathematical modeling are put forward: based on the students’ situation,embodies the complete process of knowledge construction,diversified teaching forms,pays attention to students’ mathematical language ability,and pays attention to students’ mathematical application ability.(2)In the process of practical investigation,the questionnaire survey method and interview method are used to understand some problems existing in function teaching:first,students are interested in the study of function,but they do not feel simple andeasy to understand in the process of learning.The difficulty lies in solving the problem of function application class.Second,in the process of function teaching,the degree of students’ participation is not enough.Thirdly,the application of function knowledge in students’ real life needs to be improved.Fourthly,the penetration of mathematical modeling in function teaching needs to be strengthened.(3)Combining the theory of constructivism and the theory of mathematical modeling,the process steps of function teaching based on mathematical modeling are summarized,which are mainly divided into the following five steps:first,create a situation,put forward the problem,second,guide students,analyze the problem,third to make a hypothesis,build a model,fourth to solve the model,and verify it,fifth,draw inferences and apply the model.
