Medical Social Work Involved In Hospice Care Services For Patients With Advanced Cancer

Death is an inevitable part of life.How to achieve "excellent death" has attracted more and more people's attention.For patients with advanced cancer,there is currently no effective medical treatment that can be completely cured.At the end of their lives,they not only face physical and psychological double blows,but also impose a heavy burden on the family economy.In order to enable patients with advanced cancer to relieve pain in the last part of their lives,and to face death with dignity and calmness,the development of hospice care is imperative.As an important member of the hospice team,medical social workers are self-evident.How medical social workers can better play the role in hospice to meet the needs of patients and their families,to provide them with compreh ensive and caring services,And to improve the quality of death of patients is the purpose of this study.This article is based on the author's practice in Hospice of Urumqi City.Using the research methods of the literature research method,the participation observation method and the case interview method,the case work practice inter vention.In the process of practical application,the problems and needs of the late cancer patients are analyzed through Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory and ecosystem theory,and social support theory and other relevant social work theories are used to guide intervention practice.In combination with the author's practice,the medical social work involve in the end-stage care of patients with advanced cancer has achieved certain social effects.However,its policy support is insufficient,social recognition and support are insufficient,service quality is uneven,service coverage is small,and talent team construction is insufficient.Based on the development experienc e of Shanghai and the actual situation,the author tries to make suggestions for promoting the development of medical social work involved in hospice care services:The government plays an active role,formulates relevant policies,provides financial support,diversifies publicity,guides the participation of social forces,promotes the construction of professional talents,and establishes a medical social worker intervention system with clear direction,clear responsibilities,and continuous and orderly development,with a view to enabling more Patients with advanced cancer who are in need receive hospice care,relieve pain,release stress,reduce regret,and leave with dignity.
