With the increasingly severe situation of aging in China,the spiritual culture and learning needs of the elderly are growing day by day.The education program issued by the nine ministries and commissions of our country clearly points out that we should pay attention to the education of the elderly,and makes a more detailed plan for the development of education for the elderly.Based on this background,with the support of the government,as an important carrier of promoting the development of education for the aged,universities for the aged have been established.How to improve the teaching quality and promote the effective learning of elderly students have become an important focus of many researchers and practitioners.Classroom is the stage for all teaching activities,and interaction is an important way for teachers to teach knowledge and skills to students.However,there are relatively few studies focusing on classroom interaction in universities for the aged in existing research.Therefore,this study takes symbolic interaction theory as the theoretical analysis framework,and based on qualitative research methodology,selected nanchang university for the aged as the case study,and analyzed the current situation of teacher-student interaction in the classroom of nanchang university for the aged through participatory observation and in-depth interview.The research results found that:(1)From the perspective of teachers-students interaction,it can be divided into three stages : orientation,control and evaluation.According to the differences of classroom teaching modes in universities for the aged,this study mainly analyzes the teacher-student interaction process of "teaching acceptance" and "demonstration and practice".(2)through in-depth classroom observation,it is found that the process of teachers-students interaction shows four characteristics:first,the classroom interaction in the university for the aged is like a kind of interest-class teaching,and the spirit of game runs through the whole class;Second,classroom interaction is a kind of instant process of coming and going,which has obvious mutual nature.Thirdly,the interaction for the emotional communication between teachers and students is more important.Fourth,the classroom is full of abundant gestures interactions,andnon-verbal symbol have prominent characteristics.(3)the process of teachers-students interaction requires the joint participation of the interactive subject,the interactive environment and the interactive media,which are also the important factors influencing the teacher-student interaction in the classes of university for the aged Firstly,the subject of teacher-student interaction,teachers’ professional quality and students’ learning ability,etc.Secondly,the interactive environment,such as the campus environment,class atmosphere,etc.Finally,interactive media,such as symbol media and technology media.The three factors affect the interaction between teachers and students to different degrees,resulting in differences in the effect of the interaction between teachers and students.(4)The analysis of problems and reasons in the interaction process of teachers and students:first,fron the pespective of subject,the interaction between teachers and students is not equal,formalized and so on;Secondly,in the media layer,verbal conflicts and monotonous content occur in the interaction.Finally,the environment layer,the interaction between teachers and students with low frequency,disharmonious and so on.Based on the above research findings,in order to promote the effect of the interaction between teachers and students,improve the teaching quality,and promote the learning of students,the following strategies are proposed:first,improve the campus environment,create a compound learning space,build a stable and excellent faculty,develop the teaching evaluation mechanism,and open up the communication channels between teachers and students;Secondly,at the level of teachers as subject,teachers’ professional quality should be improved,teachers’ humanistic quality should be enriched,and a good teacher-student relationship should be established.Finally,elderly students should release the "master" spirit and realize the value of life.
