Facing the fourth industrial revolution,with the integration of educational information and communication technology,a single teaching mode can neither meet the needs of teacher development nor the needs of students’ ability to enter the society,and the goal of education is also transforming from professional talents to compound talents.STEAM education,a kind of technology education which based on the integration of interdisciplinary knowledge,advocates the learning concept of "learning by doing" and relies on the projects and problems,tools and resources,and organizes the students to study with team collaboration under the situation of solving the problems,is currently the most popular education mode in cultivating innovative talents and compound talents abroad.As an important training objective of STEAM education,STEAM literacy mainly refers to the ability of thinking,action and expression when solving the STEAM problems.Cultivating the STEAM literacy can deepen students’ understanding of the connection between knowledge and the real world,and improve the students’ comprehensive literacy and hands-on ability.Therefore,we need to reflect the characteristics of STEAM education in our teaching activities based on the concept of STEAM education,to facilitate students to complete exploration and production independently,to improve their ability to solve problems,and to improve their learning competence.Firstly,the article reviews the relevant literatures to clear the research status of STEAM education at home and abroad.Then,based on reading and understanding of the literature,I summarized the concept of STEAM education,STEAM education literacy and features of STEAM education.As STEAM education is a new form of interdisciplinary education,it remains to be proved whether it is feasible to use STEAM education in high school geography teaching under the subject teaching system.Therefore,we firstly makes a comparative analysis and an investigation on the characteristics of geography,current curriculum standards,high school geography learning content,and mobilized teacher resources to explore the feasibility of STEAM education in theory and resources in high school geography teaching.Then we design the cases according to the framework on the basis of summarizing the excellent casedesign framework domestically.Finally,two parallel classes were selected to explore the significance of STEAM teaching method in high school with comparative experiments.The results have shown that STEAM education is feasible in high school geography teaching to a certain degree.It has been revealed that the high school geography teaching integrated with STEAM education can help develop students’ STEAM ability of thinking,action and expression.The data has shown that high school geography teaching integrated with STEAM education can not only improve students’ learning interests,but also improve their learning competence effectively.
