In the context of the new era of the 21 st century,the state has put forward new requirements for the goal of discipline education.It is required to cultivate students' comprehensive literacy,innovative spirit,practical literacy and other relevant contents,and clearly put forward that the excellent Chinese culture,economy,science and technology,social ecology and other new achievements should be integrated into the teaching of geography.Faced with the new requirements of the new era for the cultivation of innovative,multi-disciplinary talents,divisional teaching is difficult to meet the needs of the society.It is urgent to research and develop a new training mode of multidisciplinary talent.Geographical science is an interdisciplinary subject with nature of natural science and social science,which is connected with politics,culture,engineering,technology,mathematics and other disciplines,which makes the cultivation of Geography Practice under STEAM education concept possesses unique advantages.STEAM education concept is a comprehensive education that integrates knowledge of science,technology,engineering,art and mathematics,focusing on cultivating students' problem-solving ability through practice.This paper analyzes the feasibility of applying STEAM education concept to the cultivation of geographic practical ability from three aspects: geographical discipline characteristics,geographical core literacy and geographical practical activities.By means of questionnaire survey,interview,statistical analysis,field observation and other methods,this paper studies and summarizes the current situation of the application of STEAM concept in the training of high school students' practical ability in geography,and analyzes the reasons.According to the current situation,this paper summarizes current problems and proposes five strategies based on the STEAM education concept of high school geography practice,including changing the practice consciousness and training the practice skills;Ensuring class schedule,selecting training activities;Enhancing teaching interaction and group cooperative learning;Strengthening home-school interaction and enriching outdoor practice;Integrating multiple disciplines,cultivating comprehensive quality,etc.Five teaching steps are also put forwarded including teaching preparation,teaching design,teaching implementation,summary and evaluation,teaching reflection.Base on the STEAM education concept,"Xiamen Xingdong Park Low Impact Development project design" is compiled as the teaching case.
