As more and more students with autism enter special education schools to receive compulsory education,the curriculum development and implementation in special education schools face higher requirements and challenges.At present,special education schools around the world are paying more and more attention to the curriculum development and implementation of students with autism,but the overall situation is not clear.In order to find out the current situation of curriculum development and implementation for students with autism in schools,this study conducted a survey of teachers participating in the teaching of students with autism in55 schools for the mentally handicapped from 24 provinces of the country through the self-compiled questionnaire "Investigation on Current Situation of Curriculum Development and Implementation for Autistic Students in Schools for the Mentally Handicapped".The results of the survey show that:(1)the areas of ability involved in the curriculum objectives,the arrangement of the target areas such as self-care,safety protection and speech and language is more appropriate,and the target areas such as sports skills,leisure and entertainment,sensory perception are involved too much,while the attention to adolescent problems and vocational training of students with autism is insufficient,emotional behavior management is considered to be the most important but seriously insufficient in the general curriculum objectives;(2)In terms of curriculum content selection,the curriculum content sources are diversified,the overall pertinence is not strong,but the pertinence of rehabilitation courses is better than that of general courses;(3)In the use of teaching materials,the general courses are mainly for the mentally retarded and the rehabilitation training materials are mainly self-compiled,lacking pertinence,standardization and unity;(4)In termsof environment creation,the environment is basically suitable for the needs of students with autism,but there is still much room for improvement.(5)In the use of teaching methods,the methods mastered by teachers tend to be diversified,but the use rate of intervention methods with evidence-based practice basis is relatively low.(6)In teaching evaluation,evaluation tools are lacking and the evaluation results are not fully used.This study suggests that special education schools should be based on the needs of students and rationally adjust the curriculum objectives;Strengthening environmental construction and creating a suitable teaching environment;Guiding teachers to choose and use teaching methods rationally,and pay attention to improving the diversity and effectiveness of teaching methods;To establish a teaching evaluation mechanism for autistic students,implement scientific evaluation,and improve the effectiveness of education and teaching for students with autism.
