In a bid to adapt to the development requirements of teachers' role reshaping in the information age,support teachers overcome the development dilemma of "pressure mountain",and consider the ideas of "fine division" and "co-operation" for teacher professional development,this study re-examined and constructed the information technology application ability model of primary and secondary school teachers from the perspective of teachers' roles,and developed a assessment tool for role orientation,and finally a large-scale status surveys was conducted and the current differences in teacher roles was analyzed and discussed in China,which aimed to help teachers clarify the development requirements of different roles,to provide an empirical basis for the evaluation of information technology application abilities and professional development under the ecological orientation,and to support teachers' accurate and outstanding growth.There are three aspects of the research content:(1)The first aspect is to construct the role model of primary and secondary teachers.This study adopted literacy survey method to collect and analyze relevant literatures at home and abroad,and combining with the expert method,the questionnaire method and so on,to construct the role model of primary and secondary teachers based on information technology abilities.(2)The second aspect is to develop a measurement tool of role-position for primary and secondary teachers.Based on the pre-built role model of teachers,this study developed the self-assessment measurement tool of role-position,and the role modle and measurement tool have been iteratively modified and improved through two rounds of pre-tests and several rounds of experts' discussion,which finally make sure the measurement tool with more reliability and validity.(3)The third aspect is large-scale investigation and analysis of status quo about the role of primary and secondary teachers.This study investigated primary and secondary teachers from different cities in China with the measurement tool,analyzed the difference in roles of teachers from different regions and groups,and important findings and suggestions was discussed finally with related research.The conclusions of the study are as follows:(1)The role model of primary and secondary school teachers has higher quality which can be used as a reference frame for the development of information technology application ability of primary and secondary school teachers.And it also provides a framework for the status investigation and evaluation of teachers' information roles.(2)The assessment tools of can effectively help teachers with different teaching backgrounds and individual characteristics to orient their roles.(3)Generally,the primary and secondary school teachers in different regions of China have a good command of the role,but there are still significant differences between western and the eastern as well as central regions in all roles respectively,furtherly,a strong positive correlation between the investment in education funds and the role level of teachers in different regions was found.(4)Gender and school segment have no influence on the teacher's role level while teacher's age,teaching age,subject and teaching environment,to some degree,have an influence on teacher roles.
