Teacher is a key factor in actualizing education for quality. The profound changes having taken place in both the educational macrocircumstances and the education itself require us to reevaluate the traditional status and function of teachers. Contemporary teachers, facing the sharp innovation in the inside and outside environment of education and a series of new requirements, there will be some changes in their role, which mainly embody the reorientation of the traditional role of teachers.In this article, there are some helpful discussions concerning the new characters of education in the background of the new curriculum, the professional accomplishment teachers need to have, and the changes of the role of teachers during the process transforming from education throughout history to education at present, in nowaday society, which is also called the information society, and the learning society.Under the contemporary educational circumstances, there are many factors, outside and teachers themselves, which influence the reorientation of the teachers' role. But the role change of teachers is more of a problem with teachers' self-conception and self-consciousness. This article analyzes mainly the factors of teachers themselves. There are mary problems existing in the role orientation of the teachers at the present age, and the article also proposes some strategies for these problems.
