Under the background of the policy of comprehensively universalizing high school education, the process of popularization high school education in China has entered a crucial stage, and the rural areas with backward society economic development and weak basic education have become the focus, difficulty and strength of the popularization of high school education.High school education is not mandatory.Whether students choose to accept high school education, whether to choose to general high school education or secondary vocational education is the educational decision-making behavior of individuals or families, which is also the embodiment of individual or family educational needs. In 2016,the number of rural junior high school graduates in China was nearly twice that of urban students. What is the current situation of the educational choice of such a large group of rural junior high school graduates? Facing the imbalance of high school enrollment opportunities in urban and rural areas, what kind of educational choices will rural junior high school graduates make? What are the reasons behind their choices? In the face of the imbalance of the scale, structure and quality of genaral senior high school or secondary vocational school,is there a contradiction between the educational requirements of rural junior high school graduates and the supply of education? The response and solution to these problems are the rich time significance and practical value for the comprehensive promotion of the popularization of high school education.Taking Henan province as an example, this study selected a total of 1443 junior high school graduates from 12 rural junior high schools in two counties, and used the questionnaire survey method to understand the students' willingness to choose education and the basic situation of individuals, families and schools before the senior middle school entrance examination. In conjunction with the interview method, the study counted the results of the students' educational choices after the senior middle school entrance examination;understood the current status of the school year, the reasons for dropping out of school and the views on the secondary vocational school and understood the reasons why students finally made this choice. On the basis of collecting and analyzing the data, the study constructed the Logistic regression model of the influencing factors of the educational choice of rural junior high school graduates, and analyzed influence of various factors on the students' educational choices such as system, school, family and individual combined with the family capital theory, education choice theory,push-pull theory and existing research results. The research conclusions are following:1.Choosing general high school is the primary willingness and education demand of rural junior high school graduates, but there is a contradiction between rural junior high school graduates' enthusiasm for ordinary high school education and the unbalanced and inadequate supply of general senior high school degree.2.The school systems are important factor affecting the educational choices of rural junior high school graduates.Rural junior high schools are still at a relatively backward level in terms of infrastructure, teachers, and school management, which potentially affect students' educational choices. The problems of lax managements, poor academic performance, poor teaching quality, weak basic knowledge, and unsatisfactory employment quality are some of the reasons why students prefer to stop studying or choose secondary vocational schools.3.Family backgrounds are complex factor affecting the educational choices of rural junior high school graduates. The education level of the parents, the annual income of the parents, the class of the parents' occupation, the attitude of the parents to the secondary vocational school, the expectation of the parents for their children's future education level, the nature of the family's location and etc have complex effects on students' educational choices.4.Individual circumstances are controllable factors affecting the educational choices of rural junior high school graduates. The gender of students, the situation of living in school, and the expectation of students to read the college entrance examination, the expectation of students' strong desire to go to college, the scores of senior high school entrance examination and the feeling of being tired of learning are all important factors that affect students' educational choices.Based on the above research conclusions, this study proposes the following research proposals: First,we shouled take into account the needs of students and appropriately expand the scale of enrollment.Second,we should strengthen the construction of schools and enhance the attractiveness of secondary vocational schools.Third,we should attach importance to the guidance of further studies and improve the quality of junior high school education.Fourth,we should attach importance to high school education and strengthen rural family education guidance.Fifth,we should strengthen students' belief in further studies and overcome students' weariness mood.
