As a unique vehicle to help developing the Tibet Autonomous Region, the Tibetan Schools or Classes in relatively developed areas in China have been in operation for more than twenty years.In the past 20 years, tens of thousands of Tibetan students have studied in the more developed cities outside of Tibet in China. The Tibet schools and classes have contributed greatly to the development of the Tibetan economy and social development by cultivating a lot of much needed talents. Using both qualitative and quantitative methods, the thesis researches the Tibetan students graduated from Shanghai Administrative School (SAS). Through interviews and questionnaire survey, the researcher explores the motives of career development of these Tibetan Students from SAS.The thesis consists of six chapters :Chapter One discusses the origin of the thesis' topic, reviews the related research literature and the research methods employed for the thesis.Chapter Two reviews the background of the national educational assistance to Tibet, its policies and measures, the history of the Tibetan class in SAS and the background of the SAS students.Chapter Three focuses on a case of a Tibetan graduate of SAS called Xiao A. By analyzing his studies in SAS and career development after graduation, the research tries to shed light on the driving mechanism of career development of other students like Xiao A. Through this case study, the research also highlights the meaning and influence of the educational assistance to Tibet.Chapter Four, citing another case of a SAS female graduate named Xiao B, demonstrates the difficult career development of female Tibetan students. Following that, this chapter discusses the impact of studies the female students received at Tibetan Schools had on their work, family and life. The chapter also touches on the difficulties the female graduates have on their career development after graduation, so as to probe into the positives of their career development.Chapter Five is about the driving mechanism of career development of Xiao C and Xiao D, who belong to a different group from the first two cases.Chapter Six, summing up the findings in the early chapters, analyzes the main path and major factors influencing the SAS's Tibetan graduates' career development. At the end of this chapter, the author points out the limitations of this research and provide her suggestions for further research.
