With the continuous deepening of the new curriculum reform,the education community pays more and more attention to extracurricular reading,and also puts forward specific requirements for extracurricular reading in the Compulsory Education Chinese Curriculum Standards,which provides a reference for the majority of teachers.Extracurricular reading is not only the expansion of classroom reading,it should integrate with classroom reading,and become a reading system.It is important to recognize the value of extracurricular reading for students to increase their knowledge,improve their language skills,improve their personality,and enrich their spiritual world.However,in the actual situation,students in rural high schools are faced with the question of whether the interest in extracurricular reading is strong,whether the habit is good,and whether the method is scientific.Therefore,the status of extracurricular reading of primary school students still needs attention and research.This study takes a rural high school elementary school as an example.It uses questionnaires and interview analysis methods to summarize the characteristics of high-level students' extracurricular reading,try to find problems,and make suggestions.This research mainly includes the following contents: Firstly,through consulting relevant materials,we can understand the research status at home and abroad and define the core concepts.On this basis,the role and principles of extracurricular reading are expounded.Secondly,the results of questionnaires and interviews are presented intuitively,and then the characteristics of extracurricular reading in high school students in rural primary schools are analyzed.Then found the following problems: students have less interest in reading outside of class,lack of reading,lack of good reading habits and extracurricular reading entertainment and utilitarian tendencies.The causes of the problems are analyzed from three aspects: family,school and society.Finally,three suggestions were made for the existing problems,including teachers to strengthen the guidance of extracurricular reading,improve students' reading and self-cultivation and create a good reading environment.
