Reading is the foundation of learning and the most important way to acquire knowledge.With the state's promotion of national reading,the extracurricular reading of primary school students has received extensive attention.The new curriculum standard has made the specific request to the elementary school high grade student after class time reading the related matter: reads the total quantity not less than 1million words,browses the different domain book,expands the reading surface,can deeply realize the author wants to convey the emotion.But the extracurricular reading of primary school students still has some problems,such as the lack of extracurricular reading time,the randomness of reading contents,the superficial,the adult guidance and the improper choice of students.It is necessary to discuss and study how to improve the quality of extracurricular reading and put forward concrete and feasible strategies.This paper takes a Yantai primary school as an example to study the extracurricular reading of the fourth and fifth grade students,and the methods used are questionnaire survey,interview method,follow the investigation of the present situation,analyze the problems,and improve the countermeasures.This study refers to a questionnaire on the actual situation of extracurricular reading in primary school,which needs to be modified according to the study.This paper investigates and analyzes the students ' attitude to extracurricular reading,reading time and reading quantity,reading materials and ways of reading,the way to read and the environment of reading,and finds out the existing problems and puts forward improvement measures.First of all,the introduction part systematically expounds the issues raised,the significance of research,the research status at home and abroad,and research methods.The first part defines the concept of reading and extracurricular reading and introduces the theoretical basis of the study.The second part is the survey design and implementation.The emphasis is on the description and analysis of the survey results.The third part is the problems in extracurricular reading.Through processing and analysis of the data and interviews,students find that they like to read outside theclassroom,but there are problems such as the utilitarian and entertainment tendency of the reading content,and the lack of teacher guidance.The fourth part analyzes the reasons for the problems: the impact of exam-oriented education;the openness and development of online media;the lack of teacher-guidance and ability;the influence of family reading atmosphere;the value orientation of students' extracurricular reading.The fifth part puts forward some countermeasures for the problems in extracurricular reading.The first is to establish a correct reading concept.Such as reading across disciplines.The second is to play a guiding role for teachers.Teachers should promote the development of learners' reading habits,and at the same time,achieve an effective connection between reading in and out of class;third,optimize the home reading environment.Parents should respect the children's reading interests,create a strong reading atmosphere,and be good at using the "Dongfeng Strategy",for example,by appreciating the current film and television works to reading the original works.The fourth is to create a campus reading culture.Schools should use the advantages of the Internet to build e-books;guide peers to read together and deepen emotional experience;create special “thinking classrooms” to promote reading practice;establish feedback mechanisms and improve evaluation systems.
