Investigation On Teachers’ Access To Private High Schools In Urban Areas

Abstract/Summary:
With the deepening of educational reform,As a useful supplement to the public education system,private education has diversified our educational structure and gradually become a useful and necessary part of our educational cause.With the promulgation and revision of the Law on the Promotion of Private Education,the healthy development of private schools has been paid more and more attention.Private school teachers are the soul of private school.Therefore,it is of great significance to optimize the teaching staff of private school and promote the healthy development of private school to make good use of the "entrance gate" of teachers from the source.Research on "Teacher Access" has become the focus of scholars’ increasing attention.At present,scholars mostly focus on the "employment access" and pay attention to the teacher qualification system.They also focus on the field of pre-school education,higher education and vocational education,and pay less attention to the "professional access" stage of teachers’ teaching work after entering schools.This leaves room for further research.Based on this,after clarifying the connotation of "teacher access" system including "employment access" and "professional access",the author investigates the situation of "professional access" of teachers in private high schools by taking the important and unique position of private high schools in China’s education as an opportunity,so as to provide a basis for optimizing the teaching staff of private high schools and improving the comprehensive competitive strength of private high schools.This paper takes three private high schools in Zhangzhou City as the research object.Firstly,starting with the purpose and significance of the research,this paper focuses on defining the concept of "teacher access" and clarifying the focus of this study is the "professional access" part of "teacher access".Secondly,the existing research results related to this study are introduced and the shortcomings are pointed out.Thirdly,through the method of questionnaire and case interview,this paper makes an empirical study on the access of private high school teachers in Zhangzhou city.It finds that there are some problems in the access of private high school teachers in Zhangzhou city,such as unreasonable teacher structure,non-standardized access process,inadequate training,imperfect evaluation system,teachers’ professional quality to be further improved,teachers’ professional motivation to be strengthened,and so on.Further analysis finds that the lack of local government policies,the absence of supervisory system,the tendency of private high schools to benefit from their own school-running ideas,the excessive pursuit of competency-based,the lack of scientific internal management,social prejudice and the lack of endogenous motivation of teachers will all affect the access of private high schools to teachers.At last,the paper puts forward some pertinent strategies from the government,private schools,society and teachers’ personal level,such as increasing policy support,deepening the reform in private schools,optimizing social environment and improving teachers’ professional quality,so as to improve teachers’ quality in private high schools from the source and stabilize teachers’ team in private high schools.
