The Problems And Solutions Of The Management Of Financial Assitance To Needy University Students

With the popularization of higher education and reform of university charging system,it has currently become an important issue of our higher education system to ensure students from poor family access to equal educational opportunity.At present,the establishment of a student financial assistance system in universities and colleges all over China is basically completed.Through offering scholarships,student loans,financial aid,subsidies and fee exemptions,the system has been playing a vital role in helping underprivileged students obtain educational resources.With the system benefitting more and more students,however,there still exists a lot of problems in the efforts of universities and colleges to support the needy:the system of student financial assistance management is flawed;most of the assisted have not yet made obvious progress in their study or career;universities and colleges do not pay enough attention to mental health and emotional condition of the underprivileged students;universities and colleges hardly offer any training of self-assistance for those students.In an attempt to combine the theory of public administration and pedagogy,this dissertation is an in-depth analysis of the causes of the above-mentioned problems based on interviews and case studies.It is essential to improve the system of student financial assistance management,to create a good educational environment for the assisted,to pay close attention to psychological health of the underprivileged students,and to enhance their own ability to overcome poverty.By elaborating on these four points,solutions to improve the management of student financial assistance are offered which aim at helping the underprivileged students fully develop themselves,and on a macro level,promoting social development.
