With the implementation of our country’s economy and education basic reform measures,students in the stage of compulsory education leave school early,problem of no-one picking up students after school and education have increasingly become a public issue of concern to the whole society.In order to solve the problem of specific stage of China’s education development,the Chinese Ministry of Education issued “Guiding Opinions on Conducting After-School Service for Primary and Middle School Students(Trial)” to promote the implementation of the trusteeship work in schools.At present,after-school service for primary school students has achieved preliminary achievements,however,there are also some problems in the specific implementation process.Rural primary schools are of a large quantity but a shortage of resource in China.Many difficulties were encountered in the course of after-school service implementation.On one hand,the research on after-school service for rural primary school students can help schools improve afterschool service,optimize the quality of the service,on the other hand,it can provide reference for the government and educational administrative departments to formulate relevant policies and regulations.This study selects a normal rural elementary school in Shandong province as the research object,and collects relevant materials and data through questionnaires and interviews,summarizes the problems existing in the implementation process,and combines the relevant theoretical basis to put forward suggestions for the improvement of the service within the school.Through the survey on the after-school service in that primary school,the author found some problems such as unclear positioning,shortage of funds,unitary content and form,lack of teachers and lack of evaluation.In view of these problems,the author puts forwards suggestions for improvement from the perspective of school management.Firstly,the awareness of long-term development of students and the sense of independence in after-school service should be established.Secondly,funds should be raised in various ways to lay a solid economic foundation for afterschool service.Build a qualified and efficient teaching staff and provide high-quality talent resources for after-school services;Set up a multilevel three-dimensional curriculum system of one body with two wings.to meet the needs of students in many aspects.Finally,establish and constantly improve the after-school service evaluation system,including the multilevel comprehensive evaluation of school quality and quantity combined with teacher evaluation and interest-based formative student evaluation.Under the dual structure between urban and rural areas,rural education resources are scarce.The problem of after-school service in rural primary school is not only hard to pick up the kids,but also to improve the quality of education,to meet the education needs of parents and students.The school should foster strengths and circumvent weaknesses,strengthen the connection with society and life,look for a variety of resources,construct the curriculum as the core has its own characteristics of after-school service system,create conditions for students’ all-round development,service for the society.
