Ideological and Political Curriculum in senior high school is an important way for students to receive ideological and political education and to establish their correct outlook on life,values and the world.The practicalness of Ideological and Political Curriculum requires teachers not only to indoctrinate theoretical knowledge of books,but also to cultivate practical ability of students.However,the Ideological and Political teaching in senior high schools is still based on indoctrination education currently and ignored students’ participation consciousness and ability.The Ideological and Political Curriculum standard of senior high school requires the cultivation of students’ public participation quality,and the formation of public participation quality can’t be separated from the cultivation of public participation consciousness.In recent years,the development of core literacy has been mentioned to adapt to the development trend of world education reform and improve the international competitiveness of education in China.How to cultivate students’ core literacy is an important issue nowadays.As an important part of public consciousness,the consciousness of public participation plays an important role in citizens’ behavior norms.The Standards for Ideological and Political Curriculum in Ordinary High Schools(2017 edition)regards "public participation" as one of the four core qualities of students,requiring high school students to "participate in public affairs in an orderly manner,dare to assume social responsibilities and actively exercise the right of the people to be the masters of their own affairs.The Ideological and Political Curriculum in senior high school not only has the convenience and advantages that other disciplines do not have,but also has practical problems that can’t be ignored in cultivating students’ public participation literacy.The teaching of Ideological and political Curriculum in senior high school is still guided by college entrance examination,and the goal is still exam-oriented education.The mode of social practice organized by the school is rigid.It often pays attention to the superficial and mere formality,fails to give full play to its moral function,and students lack of rational spiritand correct understanding of public affairs.And students’ personal and family factors also lead to students’ weak awareness of public participation,low ability of public participation,and stranded desire for social participation.Therefore,the ideological and political course in senior high school must start from the teaching concept and teaching mode,seek truth from facts,change the focus of teachers’ curriculum teaching,pay attention to cultivating students’ awareness of public participation,and enhance students’ ability of public participation.In this study,questionnaires and interviews were used to investigate the students of three grades and twelve classes in three senior high schools,and 598 valid data were obtained.It is hoped that through the survey,students’ awareness of public participation can be understood,and improvement measures can be put forward to cultivate students’ ability of public participation in Ideological and Political Curriculum in senior high schools.This study analyses the problems existing in the cultivation of students’ awareness of public participation and ability of public participation in the current Ideological and Political Curriculum in senior high schools.Summarize: High school students generally have a strong sense of public participation,but in the teaching of Ideological and Political Curriculum in high school,there are too few political participation activities that can be actually contacted,other forms of social participation activities are fixed,content is boring,teaching is still mainly test-oriented,ignoring the cultivation of students’ awareness of public participation and the correct guidance of social practice activities.This study proposes solutions: firstly,to optimize classroom teaching,highlighting the advantages of public participation in high school Ideological and Political Curriculum;Secondly,we should adopt social activity teaching to enhance students’ awareness of public participation in practice;thirdly,we should construct a social practice activity system to improve students’ quality of public participation.
