For these novels being used for high school teaching materials in Chinese,experts have been deliberated continually and finalized after listening to the suggestions of first-line teachers.The language in the novel is modified and processed by the author through many rhetorical methods.These rhetoric methods have a very important effect on character appreciation,environmental description,and plot promotion in novel teaching.Besides,learning the rhetoric can improve students' language ability,and enhance students' aesthetic awareness Therefore,studying the rhetoric teaching in the reading teaching of novels in Chinese high school is not only in conformity with the requirements of the “Standards for Ordinary High School Chinese Language Curriculum”(2017 edition)for the teaching of fiction reading,but also related to the further improvement and development of high school students' Chinese literacy.This thesis,under the guidance of rhetoric theory,uses the five basic Chinese textbooks "Chinese" published by the People's Education Press as the basis to count the phenomenon of rhetoric use in the selected novels.After counting,there are6 novels in Chinese textbooks of senior high school.These novels involve more comprehensive rhetoric,including common resignations such as quotes,metaphors,and exaggerations,as well as negative rhetoric like phonetic rhetoric and word temperament.The proper use of these rhetoric makes the characters in the novel more vivid,the plots more tension,the environment more attractive.Then through a questionnaire survey,a comprehensive survey of rhetoric teaching in reading Chinese novels of senior high school was conducted from the perspective of students and teachers.By sorting out and analyzing the survey data,the author finds that the rhetoric teaching of Chinese novel in senior high school has the following problems.The students' understanding of rhetoric is not comprehensive enough;the learning method is single;the enthusiasm for completing the assignment is not high;the rhetoric application is not ideal.Teachers lack a complete rhetorical knowledge system;they have a single teaching method;they do not pay attention to the students' rhetorical training after class.In view of the above problems,this thesis proposes the following three suggestions from the student's point of view: clarify the meaning of rhetoric,grasp the core of rhetoric;correct the learning attitude,pay attention to rhetorical accumulation;strengthen the use of awareness and enhance the ability to use.From the teacher's point of view the following three suggestions are proposed: to change the rhetoric concept,to improve teaching method;to pay attention to classroom learning and to improve teaching methods;to pay attention to the use after class,and to follow up on feedback.
