As the Basic Education Curriculum Reform’s extension and thorough, the teaching of literatuer works reading has a special place in Chinese teaching. Especially in senior high school, the teaching of literatuer works reading is the core content in Chinese teaching. But through the status of the teaching of literatuer works reading, we found the tropic choices of reading teching are different even incompatible. It is by far the teaching of literatuer works reading has not a scientific, systemic and complete system.Literature is language arts. There is a close relationship between literary works and the Rhetoric. This paper introduces the Modern Chinese Rhetoric in the teaching of literature works reading, it retures to the version and insists on the skillful value orientation and aesthetic value orientation. It provides a new teaching angle for in the teaching of literature works reading. At last it trys to set up a teaching mode of literature works reading in light of Rhetoric.This paper is made up of four parts.The intorduction section introduces the basic problems of the research, including the causet of the research which analyzes the history and current situation of the teaching of literature works reading, it has pointed out the many problems of the literature works teaching at present.The first chapter has studied the general requirements of the New Course Standard on the teaching of literature works reading, the new Chinese textbooks put the literary works in a different position. It is quite clear that the teaching of literature works reading is very important again.The second chapter elaborates the theories of the Modern Chinese Rhetoric, including the concept of and rhetoric and the Rhetoric, the main points and Literary Rhetorical Criticism Theory.The third chapter elaborates the relationship of the Rhetoric and literature works reading, then it discusses the characteristics, principles and contents of the teaching of literature works reading under the Modern Chinese Rhetoric vision. The four chapter is trying to set up a new teaching mode, which named "Wordsâ†'Image-building, Emotion, Meaningâ†'Words", and affords the teaching strategies:1.Teaching the students to recite the literary works according by the style and understand the literary works as a whole.2. Guiding the students to choose a facal points to read carefully and build images.3.Guiding the students into the literature scean and understand the literary works deeply.4.The students copy and create, making study serve the practical purpose.
