A Case Study On The Social Interaction Adaptation Of The Elderly Immigrant

With the acceleration of the urbanization process and the reform of the household registration system,more and morel elderly people move into the city with their children.When entering into the unfamiliar city community from the familiar environment,the elderly immigrants need to face a series of community adaptation problems,including life adaptation,social interaction adaptation,psychological and emotional adaptation,among which social interaction adaptation is particularly important.As an important source of emotional support for people to interact with each other,social interaction can be seen as a cornerstone of community adaptation for elderly immigrants to some extent.Therefore,it is particularly important to assist the elderly immigrants to adapt to the mode of urban communication,construct social support network and to solve the problem of social interaction adaptation.The study is based on the example of elderly immigrant L who has a poor social adaptation in D community in Jinan City,using participatory observation and semi-structured interview to understand the social interaction adaptation and restrictive factors of elderly immigrant L.On the basis,evaluation and analysis the social adaptation support resources owned by the elderly immigrant L,and using the social support network theory,structural family therapy,activity theory and advantage perspective theory respectively from the elderly immigrant L,accompanying elderly family and community level to solve the social interaction adaptation problems for elderly immigrant L.Finally,based on the reflection of the case intervention service,the corresponding countermeasures and suggestions are proposed from the accompanying elderly family,community,social work organization and the government.It is an important reference for solving the social adaptation and related community adaptation problems of the elderly immigrant.
