Reading has always been an important channel for learning.For learning of Chinese language in primary school,its value lies in shouldering the burden of cultivating primary school students' reading ability and strengthening the ability of lifelong learning.Therefore,in recent years,the research on Chinese reading has reflected much effect of many factors,which reading strategy is an important factor to improve students' reading ability and Chinese grades.A number of evaluation tools for reading ability in the world clearly examine the understanding and application of reading strategies.The last two years of primary school is the key period from "learning to read" to "learning by reading".Strengthening the training of Chinese reading strategies will lay a solid foundation for future study.This study aims to understand the application of Chinese reading strategies in senior students in elementary school,the differences in the application of Chinese reading strategies between different genders and grades under the background of the new curriculum reform,and the relationship between reading strategies and language achievement.In this study,363 senior students in elementary school of Wuhan were selected as the subjects.The Chinese reading strategy scale and the reading strategy interview record table were used as the testing tools.The datas are obtained by using T-test,ANOVA,correlation and regression analysis,some text analysis,semi-structured interviews as well.The results are as follows:(1)Superficial strategy and resource management strategy are two kinds of Chinese reading strategies used by older pupils,but questioning planning and generalization strategies are used less.(2)Girls of high-grade in primary school often use Chinese reading strategies in reading.(3)Five grade students use Chinese reading strategies more often than the students in grade six.(4)Chinese reading strategies has great relevance to Chinese grades.Resource management strategies and inference strategies can predict 12.3% changes of Chinese grades.The acquisition of Chinese high grades depends on the flexible use of low level and advanced Chinese reading strategies,and the high grade of primary school is the golden period of learning and mastering Chinese reading strategies.If teachers pay attention to Chinese reading strategies and give students a successful experience,it will benefit the child for life.
