The Survey Report Of The Ethnic Chinese Students’ Chinese Language Attitude Of Chung Hua Middle School,Brunei Darussalam

It is useful to study language attitude in bilingual or multilingual environment especially when we want to know the social status and mental tendency.This research is mainly about the investigation of Chung Hua Middle School(CHMS as follows),the Chinese language attitude of ethnic Chinese students.Analyzing the attitude,the behavior habit and the influence factors of language attitude.According to the conclusion of the investigation,it puts forward the suggestion for the development and the education of CHMS.The research theory of this paper is mainly based on the theory of language attitude,which is carried out by questionnaire and interview method.This paper mainly consists of five parts: the first part introduces the concept of language attitude,research purpose and significance,research methods,literature review,etc.The second part mainly carried on the investigation of Chinese language attitude of CHMS,and doing the investigation according to the behavioral factors that impact on language attitude.The third part analyzing the factors that influence the attitude of the ethnic Chinese students,including gender,ages,education background,Chinese teacher and so on.The fourth part made a conclusion,The fifth part based on the conclusion made some suggestions for CHMS.The survey results show that the Chinese language attitude of the students of CHMS is above general-level,but they performs worse on behavioral component.It will have obviously effect to ethnic Chinese students on different genders,ages and education background.In order to improve their language attitude,I have come up with many suggestions to CHMS and i hope it will have positive impact on Chinese language promotion as well as Chinese language education in Brunei.
