With the development of learning analysis technology,the deep integration of technology and education is the issue in education research field."bad learning effect,high lost rate,low completion rate,lack of targeted evaluation" have become the reality in the open learning filed.How to improve the accuracy of open learning and provide targeted educational valued services for the learners is a common concern for the stakeholders.The existing learning analysis has a significant advantage in providing quantitative analysis results,but is not conducive to the situational description of the learning process.In addition,with the increase of mobile learning terminals and the transformation of learning methods,SCORM is showing more and more defects,which is hard to meet the needs of current learning analysis.Experience API(xAPI)issued by ADL can capture and exchange data across platforms and terminals in the form of "Statement" to support the teaching stakeholders,which shows better potential application of learning analysis.At the same time,the learner persona provides a new way for promoting the situational description of the learning process by visualizing and situating the learners' characteristics.Therefore,this research explores the construction and application of open learner persona based on xAPI,so as to explore to solve the above problems,and improve the open learners' learning efficiency and performance,and ensure the quality of teaching.So it could be seen that xAPI had a significant advantage in reducing the granularity degree of the learners' identified learning behavior and accurately providing interference within it.During the construction of learner persona based on xAPI,the research integrated literature analysis and model construction methodology,and designed a set of learner centered verbs and objects to supported the xAPI statement design in form of "Actor+Verb+Object",which was used to record and quantify the learning experiences.Besides,the research put forward the construction framework of open learner persona based on xAPI,which mainly divided into five stages respectively,“the first stage,making a clear learner persona's target;the second stage,collecting the open learning experience data;the third stage,building of open learner persona's model;the fourth stage,the output of the learner persona;the fifth step,the evaluation and intervention of open learner persona”and elaborated the main contents of each stage to help stakeholders construct the learner persona.Among them,the learner persona model was the key of the framework,through the research of open learners' demand of ability evaluation,the research put forward the ability evaluation oriented open learner persona model based on xAPI from three dimensions of knowledge,attitude and behavior features,and designed xAPI statements to collect the learning experience data of corresponding dimension in the learning process.During the application of learner persona based on xAPI,the research used action research method designed a series of cross platform and cross terminal learning activities with the theme of "fire" to improve learners' ability of fire prevention and escape.Among them,learning activities included the online course Prevention and Escape techniques of fire on the WeChat platform,operating the APP learning courseware The Fire is coming and experiencing the virtual reality activity Fire fighting.With the guidance of the open learner persona construction framework and process,the experiment collected the learners' learning experience statement data and clustered the learners into four categories,which are “Actively continued learners”,“potentially continued learners”,“possibly lost learners” and “highly lost risk learners” in descriptive statistics,regression analysis,cluster analysis by SPSS19.0,and output the four learner personas.The experiment results found that different learner personas had different factors to influence their grade,learning satisfaction and intention,and needed to provide the well-directed teaching intervention measures to ensure the teaching quality,such as highly lost risk learners,the teachers should pay more attention to learners' academic emotions,the reflective content and theeffectiveness of reflection,and promote the meaningful reflection behaviors etc.It could be seen that the xAPI had significant advantages in distinguishing the learners' learning behaviors and providing accurate teaching interventions.Besides,the experiment invited learners,teachers and relevant researchers to evaluate the application value through questionnaires and interviews.The result found that the learner persona could recognize the core characteristics of each learners' group,and help present the key information and actively promote the learners and teachers to better reflect and understand learners,and solve the practical teaching problems.The researchers in varied fields also evaluated the application effect of xAPI and learner persona from various perspectives.Besides,the teaching stakeholders proposed suggestions for improving the application effect from their respective perspectives,which were of great significance for promoting the educational application of xAPI and learner persona in the future.
