As a country with the largest number of disabled elderly in the world, how to improve the quality of life of disabled elderly has become a social problem that can not be ignored.Due to the weakening of the family care function and incompleteness of the community's pension function, institutional care has gradually become an important choice for disabled elderly people in their old age. However, under the dual pressures of lack of self-care ability and weakening of the support system, there is a crisis of self-efficacy among the institutionally disabled elderly people, which is not conducive to the sense of well-being of the disabled elderly, and even makes them a high-risk group for depression or even suicide.Based on the results of the social work practice of the W welfare house in Wuhan, the main problems and needs of the self efficacy of the disabled elderly are understood through the early visit and the needs assessment, and the practical support and basis are provided for the intervention of the group work through the feasibility assessment.Under the guidance of Orem theory of self-care and social support theory, the author determines the nature of the group work as a support group, through psychological counseling, health education, functional exercise and the establishment of support as a specific intervention content to improve the sense of self efficacy of the disabled elderly. In this study,a disabled elderly who met the screening criteria was selected as the service target. In the support group service process,a partial compensation nursing system and an auxiliary education system are provided for the moderate disabled elderly and the mildly disabled elderly, and the differential activity difficulty and assisting service level are implemented to maximize the potential of the disabled elderly on the basis of respect for the different individual conditions of the disabled elderly. We will maximize the potential of disabled elderly people and implement the spirit of “helping people to help themselves”.In order to monitor and test the service process, the researchers evaluated each of the activities of the support group to adjust the program in time and improve the quality of the group.Combined with the data collected during the group service process, theresearchers mainly used the interview method to evaluate the self-efficacy of the support group's interventional elderly.Outcome assessment included both the specific assessment of the factors affecting the self-efficacy of disabled elderly and the overall assessment of the improvement of self-efficacy among the disabled elderly. The results show that the elderly have different degrees of improvement in physical health, individual success experience and alternative experience,as well as the positive evaluation and support of others, and the improvement of a few incompetent elderly is not significant;the overall self-efficacy of the disabled elderly has different degrees of improvement. The researchers concluded that the support group has a certain promotion effect on the sense of self-efficacy of disabled elderly in welfare homes, and the dynamic mechanism of multiple influence factors should be paid attention to to improve the seniors' sense of self-efficacy,and a targeted promotion of self-efficacy service plan should be made in combination with the service target. Finally, the researcher summarizes and in-depth reflects on the lessons learned in the entire service process, and puts forward the deficiencies in this study, with a view to suggesting further development of social work practices.
