The professional identity of teachers in higher education is a result of interaction between the individual and their working environment.It is also an integration of self-recognition,emotion and behavior trend during the process of teaching practice.It is going to have a vital influence on the living and working conditions of teachers in higher education,thus having a profound meaning for their profession development and individual improvement.To find out the developing process and main characteristics of their professional identity is going to help us better accomplish the development and it is able to lead us well on the related work.This thesis is based on the methodology of qualitative research.The developing process and main characteristics of the professional identity of teachers from higher education is going to base on profound interviews of eight youth teachers.The study shows there are four basic periods of a professional identity.The main characteristics varies when it comes to different periods.The first period shows the obfuscation of professional recognition,idealization of professional emotion and initialization of professional preference.The second period shows the paradoxical professional recognition,the concern of professional emotion and the instability of professional trend.The third period shows the full realization of professional recognition,stability of professional emotion and adaptability of professional plan.The last period shows sublimation,mature of the three aspects referred to in the above lines.The thesis is going to proffer suggestions from social,organizational and individual levels based on the finding and results of this study.
