A Group Social Work Intervention Study On The Improvement Of Migrant Children's Autonomy

Until October 1,2015,the amount of migrant people has reached 247 million,which means one out of every six people was "wandering".And the amount of their children,migrant children and left-behind children,was about 100 million people in China.Therefore,we work with migrant children which under the influence of the current population policy,prod into the situation and influencing factors about their autonomy,then design group work program and give proper suggestions,helping them to promote autonomy and achieve a better life.This study takes more than 200 migrant children in a child friendly community in Nanjing city for example,take the theory of the needs of people as framework,prod into the situation and influencing factors about their autonomy by making scale and interviewing with teachers.To understand their feelings and experiences by designing group activities,put forward rational solutions from the perspective of social workers,attempt to come up with key factors in the process of intervention,which in order to better help those migrant children get out of dilemma.We choose questionnaires and semi-structured interviews as the main methods of data collection,and take the students from grade three and grade four of L primary school for example.We mainly find out that,firstly,the autonomy of migrant children has been limited,which perform as low level of cognitive,negative cognition,bad behavioral control and emotional management.Secondly,those three points has tremendous influence on migrant children:meaningful interaction between family members and peer group,rational cognition of themselves and environment,set up life goal and build on faith actively.Thirdly,we designed a rational group work program,realizing that social worker will play an important role in the improvement of autonomy of migrant children.Finally,our goals to carry out the group work are mainly achieved.It's been proved that group work methods which directed by Cognition and Behavior Theory is reasonable and effective in the situation of improving migrant children's autonomy.However,when we try to promote that methods,every migrant children should be treated with more sincere,more energy and in correct way.
