Rural left-behind children is a special group which is the product of China's modernization,urbanization and economic development.It has been aroused public concern due to its poor growing environment and lack of effective teaching which causes frequent and increasingly serious psychological problems.The social worker investigate the rural left-behind children ' s mental health by using the scaling of Mental Health Diagnostic Test(MHT)and participatory observation in primary school of M in Heilongjiang Province.It comes out that rural left-behind children are more serious than non-staying ones in the issue of self-blame.We have selected 36 rural left-behind children with serious problems of self-criticism to carry out group work.We set up the'enable' as the theme to organize some activities that guiding the rural left-behind children to self-awareness about their advantages and resources for emotional regulation,then we selected children with less self-expression in the group work to carry out case work.The problem of the tendency toward self-accusation of rural left-behind children has been solved in a certain extent after the intervention and the scores have dropped significantly.Therefore,the role of school social work in supporting rural left-behind children needs to be fully exerted to promote the development of mental health.
