Research On The Media Image Of Chinese Overseas Students In The Online News

Chinese overseas students are an important part of the talent strategy and the source of social development.In recent years,a number of people studying abroad has been constantly increasing,and the problems that accompany it have also continued to grow.Concomitantly,the safety,academics,and psychology of Chinese students studying abroad have also emerged in an endless stream,such as the sensational murders of Chinese student in China and Japan-the "Jiangge Case",the depression of suicide by Californian Chinese female students,and loss of more than one Chinese student in Canada,etc.Chinese students studying abroad are useful talents for national strategic development.The construction of their media image is related to their reputation,employment,and future.And it also affects the long-term development of the entire country and society.Looking at the field of journalism and communication,there are few researches related to Chinese students studying abroad.The analysis of Chinese media images of Chinese students by internet News is also rare.Therefore,considering the practical and theoretical significance of research,this paper want to study the media image of Chinese overseas students in online news based on the combination of theoretical research and quantitative analysis,First of all,I set Sina as the target media for the study.By searching and screening the news about Chinese overseas students in 2017,a total of 302 effective samples were collected.This article is based on the framework theory and combined with the characteristics of the actual research object to construct the category.The final research category is established as news subject,news source,information source,news type,report position,report form,location,gender and so on.Then,I use SPSS 22.0 statistical analysis software to build the category coding,statistics and analysis.Through the research,I find that Sina News mainly focuses on the negative coverage of Chinese overseas students and pays too much attention to the marginal topics of Chinese students.However,there are few reports about the academic aspects of Chinese overseas students.There is a clear bias in the construction of the theme.The problems in the construction are finally presented indirectly to the distorted Chinese overseas students' media image.By constructing a media image model,the multi-angle and multi-dimensional stereoscopic image of Chinese students studying abroad is restored from three aspects:reputation,action and psychology.The media image of Chinese students studying abroad is the media reality presented through the construction of network news.This kind of media reality is received and interpreted by audiences through dissemination and finally constructed as the audience cognition under the comprehensive influence factors.In order to investigate the audience's cognition of the media image of Chinese students studying abroad in online news,this article conducted a small-scale questionnaire survey.As a result,it is found that audience awareness is greatly influenced by the setting of the Internet news agenda.However,at the same time,audiences are more controversial and even totally unacceptable about the media image of Chinese overseas students constructed in the Internet news.Finally,in the perspective of Communication,we analyze the image of Chinese overseas students' media image to explore the feasibility of the restoration of the Chinese students' media image.Then,from the aspect of reality before propagation,the medium of communication,and the awareness of the audience after the dissemination to repair the media image of Chinese overseas students.In reality,through the research and summary of news events,we urge Chinese students themselves and relevant departments to interact with each other to minimize the occurrence of similar negative news events in real life.In terms of the media,the online news should return to the news attributes,optimize the agenda setting,improve the reporting position and the theme of reporting,so as to objectively and truthfully construct.In the audience awareness,we must continue to enhan ce the audience's media literacy,enhance their expertise in information reception,judgment,criticism,communication and other aspects.Through the interactive role of the three parties,I hope that the media image of Chinese overseas students can get repair of three aspects.
