Error management is a kind of effective and autonomous mathematics learning strategy for students.It can make students depart from the mathematics learning activities solely relying on accepting,memorizing,imitating and practicing.Instead,it can improve their experience of mathematical cognition through independent thinking,positive expressing,communicating and sharing;At the same time,it promotes students’ self-management ability.Faced with the pressure of the college entrance examination,how do senior 3 students apply this learning strategy?Adopting the methods of quantitative questionnaires and qualitative interviews towards 488 students and 23 senior teachers in a key high school of Kunming and combined with the perceptive analysis of students’ error diaries,this research has found the current condition of senior 3 students’ mathematical error management.The conclusions are as follows:(1)Senior 3 students can recognize the importance of mathematical error management and do not avoid their mistakes.Most students can correct their own mistakes and have a positive attitude towards their error.However,students’recognition about the value of error management tend to be utilitarian.In the process of error management,they solely rely on the supervision and guidance of their teachers and have deficiency in self-monitoring and persistence,at the same time deep strategies and efficient methods.(2)Between Senior 3 male and female students,arts and science students,the overall level of error management has no significant difference.Their overall level stays at the academic stage,with obvious differences caused by various teaching styles.Error management level is positively related to mathematics achievement of senior 3 students,and can certainly predict their mathematics achievement.(3)Senior 3 students use the error diary to collect and manage their errors.Toward different causes,they will adopt different management methods.Students with distinct learning levels differ in the strategies and in-depth management behaviors.(4)High school teachers of grade 3 require students promptly to correct their errors and pay special attention to the errors.But the further requirements for error analysis and the establishment of error diary have distinction because of teachers’ different understanding of the efficiency of error management.Besides,the teachers lack personalized guidance for error management and diverse assessments of the effects of error management.Through effective error management,the common goal for both teachers and students is to make students of different levels gain more based on their previous learning.Based on the attribution analysis of the current situation of senior 3 students’ error management and combined with the cases of optimization of students’ error management,the suggestions to optimize error management of senior 3 students are as follows:strengthen the students and teachers error management awareness,and promote the students to develop the habit of managing errors autonomously.Through teachers’personalized guidance,upgrade the in-depth error management behavior of students,so as to improve the error management process of senior 3 students.
