Abstract/Summary:
The "post-90s" who grew up in the digital network era once entered the public’s view as an alternative image of "non-mainstream" and "brain-dead".However,with the objective needs of age and reality, the "post-90s" have gradually stepped onto the front desk of history, making a voice and playing a role in the political, economic and cultural fields, refreshing the public’s understanding of this group. However, this process of cognitive change cannot be separated from the identity construction of the "post-90s" group by media discourse. This study is the first time to use corpus-based critical discourse analysis to explore the dynamic process of China Youth Daily(2007-2019)’s media discourse construction and identity restoration of the "post-90s" from three dimensions of politics, economy and culture.Through the analysis of high-frequency words, indexes, collocation words and collocation networks in the "post-90s" corpus,it is found that:First of all,the "post-90s" is a group concept based on imagination and highly differentiated internally. Its social and cultural meaning is precipitated and consolidated over and over again in the selective construction of media.Secondly, with the rich expression of media discourse, the "post-90s" show complex and contradictory identities in the political, economic and cultural fields, and in the diachronic dimension, the new generation of migrant workers and rural youth in the "post-90s" are in an awkward situation of aphasia in media discourse. In order to see the essence of the identity construction of the "post-90s",this paper further explores the interactive relationship between social context and media discourse, and finds that the identity of the "post-90s" under the construction of media discourse is consistent and deviated from that of the "post-90s" under the political, economic and cultural contexts. Therefore,at the end of this article, starting from the social integration function of mainstream media, some suggestions are put forward on how to better construct the news production practice of the "post-90s" political, economic and cultural identity.
