The translation practice report takes Chapters 2,3,and 4 of Climate Literacy and Innovation in Climate Change Education as the translation material. This book was published by Springer in 2018 in which the latest research trends in the field of climate change education in recent years are discussed. The selected three chapters focus on the application of e-learning and distance education in climate change education.Translating these chapters into Chinese will enrich the current research on climate change education in China, thereby helping our country to better cope with climate change, which will further promote China’s sustainable development. In order to discuss the scientific methods of words conversion and realize both the informative and communicative function of scientific texts, this report adopts Catford’s Translation Shifts Theory by taking this translation material as a case, and it analyzes the translation strategies for words of three high-frequency parts of speech, such as nouns, adjectives and adverbs and words of other parts of speech in this text. This practice report points out that there are some apparent differences between English and Chinese. In the process of lexical translation,it is necessary to make class shifts flexibly guided by the Translation Shifts Theory in order to achieve both the communicative and informative function of scientific texts. This report can provide some inspiration and knowledge for people engaged in scientific text translation. This report consists of five chapters. The first chapter introduces the authors, background, main content and research significance of the selected translation material. The second chapter discusses the translation process in detail through three steps of translation:pre-translation,translation,and post-translation.The third chapter makes an introduction to the Translation Shifts Theory, its theoretical core, concepts and etc.Chapter Three also puts forward the translation principles that translators should obey while applying Translation Shifts Theory to the lexical translation of scientific texts. The fourth chapter focuses on case analysis.Taking the most typical lexical translation cases in this translation material for example, and under the guidance of Translation Shifts Theory, this chapter makes an analysisof translation strategies for the shifts of nouns, adjectives and adverbs, the three high-frequency parts of speech,as well as vocabulary of other parts of speech in scientific texts.Chapter 5 summarizes the whole practice report.
