The research material selected in this translation report is Brief Introduction to Innovation Entrepreneurship College,which introduces various basic information of the company and the company hopes to attract more overseas investors and partners through the English version of the enterprise profile.At lexical level,the source text contains many expressions with extended meanings and lexical gaps,while at syntactic level,there are some problems,such as implicit logical relationship,the use of active sentences throughout the content,missing and redundant information,etc.At textual level,there are stacked structures forming a single paragraph and layout issues,which need to be dealt with and solved by translators.Guided by the communicative translation theory put forward by the British translator Peter Newmark,this report analyzes and summarizes some translation methods of enterprise profiles.According to communicative translation,translators should produce translations accepted by target readers.In addition,translations should follow the cultural background,language habits and receptivity of target readers.In the translation process of this project,the author takes communicative translation as the theoretical basis all the time,and strives to produce a high-quality translation of enterprise profiles that are suitable for readers' reading habits.This report first introduces the background of the project,the main significance of the project and the translation process of the project,and objectively analyzes the problems encountered in the translation process and the solutions.According to the lexical,syntactic and textual features of the source text,this report combines and analyzes the communicative translation theory applicable to the translation of enterprise profiles,and briefly introduces the text typology theory related to the classification of text types.Then,it talks about the application of communicative translation to enterprise profiles,paving the way for specific case analysis.Based on this,and citing communicative translation as the theoretical guidance,this report focuses on analyzing translation strategies of different cases at lexical,syntactic and textual levels.At the end of the report,it discusses the major findings in relevant research and translation practice,as well as the limitations and suggestions in this translation report.Through analysis and summary,at lexical level,the author uses paraphrasing to deal with the extended meaning of words,and uses literal translation,free translation and annotation to solve the phenomenon of lexical gap;At syntactic level,in view of the implicit logical relationship of the source text and the habitual use of active sentences,the author adopts the methods of restructuring and changing the voice of sentences to deal with them,and chooses the methods of amplification and ellipsis to respectively handle the phenomenon of missing and redundant information;At textual level,the author uses a variety of methods to flexibly deal with the stacking structures in individual paragraphs,and appropriately handle the content and form of the target text to solve the layout problem.This report hopes to contribute to the translation of enterprise profiles or other publicity materials of the same type through research and summary,so as to better improve the translation quality of this type of materials.
