In the spring of 2020,affected by the epidemic situation,the teaching positions of overseas Confucius Institutes shifted from offline to online.In the past,most Confucius Institutes have focused more on the improvement of offline teaching quality.In the new field of online teaching,both the Confucius Institute and its teachers lack the corresponding organizational experience,and the course quality is affected to a certain extent.As an important part of classroom teaching,classroom activities directly affect the realization of teachers' teaching objectives and students' learning effect.The investigation on the implementation of overseas Chinese online teaching activities is a timely summary of the experience of off-line teaching under the epidemic situation,which has guiding and practical significance for overseas Chinese teachers to carry out online classroom activities.Based on the previous studies,this paper defines the specific concepts and scope of "classroom activities" and "online teaching",and discusses the research results of overseas Chinese online classroom activities.Taking returning volunteers from Beijing Foreign Studies University as the interviewees,this paper investigates the implementation of overseas Chinese online teaching activities under the epidemic situation with the help of transcribed interview recordings and retained teaching materials.According to the changes of teachers' choice of classroom activity types after the transition from offline classroom to online classroom,it is found that compared with offline classroom,online classroom activities have the problems of low organization frequency and single activity type.In terms of activity purpose,it is manifested as a significant reduction in Chinese character activities,in terms of organizational form,it is manifested as a reduction in the organization frequency of group activities,in terms of activity form,it is manifested as a boring classroom activity,and in terms of the degree of teacher's control of information,it is manifested as a free activity less.In view of the problems highlighted in the changes,this paper,based on the successful experience of volunteer teachers in solving problems,selects eight successful cases of online classroom activities to share from four aspects:designing online Chinese character activities,conducting online group activities,increasing the fun of online activities,and exploring online free-form activities.Based on the teachers' Reflection on online teaching and the actual needs of improving teaching ability,four suggestions are given to teachers:broaden activity design ideas,flexibly design online Chinese character activities;make full use of network resources to stimulate online teaching advantages;explore the functions of teaching platforms to help the design of classroom activities;formulate online classroom regulations to maintain classroom order.The Confucius Institute can also provide auxiliary support for teachers to carry out online teaching through the four aspects of equipping hardware facilities,formulating rules and regulations,sharing teaching resources,and strengthening cooperation between Confucius Institutes.
