Language is composed of vocabulary,phonetics and grammar,vocabulary is called the basic material of language.Mastering enough vocabulary can not only learn English well,but also lay a solid foundation for pronunciation and grammar.However,in the current junior high school English classroom,many students are bored with English vocabulary learning and think it is too difficult to memorize vocabulary.In addition,teachers teach vocabulary in a single way.Therefore,many junior high school students lack interests in learning English vocabulary.Interest is the basis of learning a language.Adding games to actual English teaching can not only improve dull teaching methods of teachers,but also improve students’ interest in learning vocabulary and efficiency of learning vocabulary.So as to better improve the quality of teaching,this study is based on the theory of Herbart’s Interest Theory,Psychoanalysis School’s Game Theory and Multiple Intelligences Theory.Meanwhile this study integrates the method of game teaching into junior high school English vocabulary classroom,and investigates following two questions:(1)Can game teaching stimulate junior high school students’ interest in vocabulary learning?(2)Can game teaching improve junior high school students’ performance in vocabulary learning?In order to answer the questions above,this study did research between two parellel classes in Grade One of the Eighth Junior High School in Pingyu County.In order to make a better comparison,experimental class uses the game teaching method,and control class still uses traditional teaching method.In order to better observe the changes of objects’ scores in two English vocabulary tests before and after experiment,this study uses Independent Sample T-test and Pired Sample T-test to compare results of two tests and results of questionnaires.Data analysis shows that: students in experimental class who accepted the game teaching have increased their interests in vocabulary learning.Students in experimental class who accepted the game teaching have improved their vocabulary test scores.The results of this study show that the application of game teaching method in English vocabulary teaching in junior high school can improve students’ interest in vocabulary learning and improve their vocabulary test scores.Based on the above findings,this study puts forward to following suggestionsaccording to current situation of this teaching method in junior high school English vocabulary classroom practice and combined with its own teaching experience: Firstly,pay attention to the reasonable combination of teaching types and games,and pay attention to the proportion of game time in the classroom.Secondly,the setting of game should be moderate,feasibility and control of game should be considered.Thirdly,the game should keep diversity and modernization.Fourthly,the design of game should take into account the difficulty.
