With the trend of economic globalization, the demand for in-house translators is proliferating for business development.Though being an in-house translator is a popular option for MTI students,it remains unknown for many people.Only a few scholars focus on in-house translators/interpreters in the context of enterprises. Some professors at school may not know the situation in the companies very well. Thus, the training of student translators may deviate from the actual needs of the enterprises. This report, based on the author's internship as an in-house translator of GAC-SOFINCO Automobile Finance Company, aims to show the operation of a professional in-house translation team and discuss its project management processes with critical factors. The author has been an intern for the Translation Team of the Company since July 2019.She translated documents from various departments and listened to interpretation during some meetings. Both translation and interpreting are the primary work of the team. The internship enables the author to learn about the recruitment standards, management tools, primary duties, and management process of the in-house translation team.In this report, the author groups project management into four stages: initiating process, planning process, implementation process, and closing process. The project management of the in-house translation team will be discussed by introducing the management of requirements, time, equipment, quality, and language assets in different processes.Besides, some problems in the language assets management and the quality management that occurred during the internship would also be analyzed. The purpose of this report is to show the actual work situation of in-house translators, the management processes of translation and interpreting projects, and the competency requirements to be an in-house interpreter.
