Today,China has closer trade and cultural exchanges with the rest of the world,and more and more people are using the Chinese language.In order to meet the needs of the market,promote the spread of Chinese culture,and cultivate more foreign language talents who know Chinese,many language schools have set up Chinese majors.Apart from the language competence training courses,the Chinese major at the university of Abomey-Calavi in Benin also offer other special courses,including the course of interpreting Chinese idioms.Idioms are the cultural heritage of China.It is very important for students to master Chinese idioms.The purpose of this course is to make students know more about Chinese culture and improve their language expression.The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the learning situation of Chinese four-character idioms among Chinese majors in a third year in a university in Benin,in order to understand the students attitude towards the course of idiom interpretation and the difficulties they encounter in learning Chinese idioms.The author investigated students' attitudes in class,analyzed the results of interviews to find out the causes of students difficulties in learning,and finally put forward relevant Suggestions to promote students' learning of Chinese four-character idioms.In this study,63 students majoring in Chinese in the third year of university in Benin were investigated,and their learning of Chinese four-character idioms was investigated by questionnaire.The questionnaire consists of three parts: personal information,students attitude towards the course of idiom interpretation and the acquisition strategies of idioms.After the questionnaire was collected,the author used SPSS statistical software to conduct data statistics,and analyzed students attitudes towards the course of idiom interpretation and the acquisition strategies of idioms.In terms of students attitudes towards the course of idiom interpretation,we mainly analyzed the attitudes of the students participating in the survey towards the way of preview,the way and attitude of teaching,the way of reviewing the content of the class and the way of facing the exam of the course of idiom interpretation.In terms of idiom acquisition strategies,this paper mainly analyzes the acquisition of Chinese idioms,so as to have a more in-depth discussion on the acquisition of Chinese idioms by the third-year students majoring in Chinese.The author found that students in the third year of Chinese language major in Algeria university of Benin often used the preview method in the idiom interpretation class.When they encountered difficulties,they would think about it and seek advice from their classmates or teachers.Compared with other courses,they also attached importance to the idiom interpretation class.Although students study hard to master Chinese idioms,they find the content of the class difficult to understand and feel nervous during the exam.Idioms form,meaning,grammar and pragmatics are the difficulties encountered while learning Chinese idioms.At the end of the article,we put forward some Suggestions from the four aspects of Chinese idioms: form,meaning,grammar and pragmatics,so as to help students have a better understanding of Chinese four-character idioms,Chinese culture and an improvement in their Chinese language skills.
